bike computers

I am going to start riding again. I have an ancient computer with wires all on the frame. It shows mileage/trip/speed/avg speed/cadence/alarms for speed/cadence etc. Nice, but old and wired.

I looked up wireless, new stuff and came up with the best a garmin unit that runs $400. Too much. I am a causal rider.

Cateye CC-RD300W Strada Wireless

But does not have cadence, which I like.

Any ideas?

I had a Bontrager 5W wireless, and my HID light interfered with it so badly I ended up giving it away. I have a wired Cateye Enduro now that I'm very happy with, but I don't believe it has cadence either.

Got a refurbished garmin 700 for $275, with cadence sensor, it works pretty well, and it has some pretty cool interactive stuff through the garmin website to track routes and workouts, etc.

Cat eye or Garmin 500 for around $150-200. Garmin 510 came out in the spring of '13, so the 500 can be found at a reasonable price.

I use the Bontrager 1.1 Node. It has cadence, avg speed, max speed, trip 1 and 2. It can do heart rate also, but I don't have mine set up. This is wireless, as my Trek has the duo trap installed. I have been happy with this setup for around $80. Make sure to get one that adjusts to your actual tire size. My hybrid has a generic Bell computer, and I couldn't set it the actual tire size, so there is some inaccuracy in calculations.

[]Wow, great thoughts. Thanks.

I don't need gps. I will only run around my "block". I live in the country...just for exercise. Thus no need for gps. I biked around Europe back when, that would have been nice.

Thinking..

would suit my purpose.

This would be nice as well. But I am old...would be scared what the heart rate would show

BTW, I have an old Cannondale, nice touring/road bike. I don't want to spend a lot of money.

I blew out my arms, thus can't row (have a nice Concept 2 rowing machine

http://www.amazon.com/Concept2-Model...rowing+machine

that is AWESOME. I would HIGHLY recommend for an all body machine. But, alas, blew out my arms. Thus started to run...sucks.

So now, going to bike, until my arms heal. Then back to the rowing machine (don't have to worry about the cars or deer whacking me). Plus I can watch MASH DVD whilst rowing

Just get an indoor trainer, put your bike on it, then you never have to go outdoors.

No, but they do go for a beer or two or three.

I have the strava app for my phone. It does almost all that for free except the cadence. It might, but I don't use it.
