RB's.

I tell you what-

I know the position is undervalued, but Pacheco is an awfully important piece of this offense now, and moving forward. He's also going to wear down fast.

I'd like to address the RB2/split time spot in this draft. Mckinnon is probably close to done, and Clyde is not an answer long-term.

Who do you like? I'm not saying first round, or even second-but by the mid rounds, I'd be looking for an all-around back to split time with Pacheco.

I'm a little late to this thread.

I'm from the camp that you should NEVER give a running back a second contract. NEVER

Treat them like they're disposable.

So this is a position group where the Chiefs can get younger, cheaper, and more talented.

My plan would use one of our 5th round picks on a RB, and then I'd go and sign Antonio Gibson to a little deal and sit back and see how that improved this offense, because I have no doubt that it would.

Definitely hits the speed score earmarks, if Veach is favoring metrics like he did with Pacheco he could be a guy to watch

Allen is a freak.

Made Bruce Feldman's 2023 Freak's List - ranked #34. He wrote "Last year he made it on the strength of his power-cleaning 406 pounds and clocking a 1.49 in his 10-yard split. He benched 365. Allen has bulked up 10 more pounds to 245 now. “I’m bigger, but I am leaner now,” Allen says. “I went from 11 percent body fat to 8 percent this offseason. I’m definitely faster now.”"

Allen squatted 600 lbs also and clocked at 20 mph on the gps. And most sites have his 40 at 4.4. He’s got plenty of production at Wisconsin. And he’s super young at 20 years old.
Man, I’m surprised this guy isnt being talked about more. He’s huge AND fast AND has zero fumbles AND averages almost 6pc AND shows patience & shiftiness & runs through dudes.

There's kind of a reason I think we haven't talked about Allen and Estime much on this board and that's because they carry 2nd to early 3rd grades. I don't think any of us want to spend that kind of draft capital on a RB right now. I don't know that you spend it with a solid starter on the payroll for two more seasons. Now, Milton in the 5th? Yes, please.

Not getting national love but probably a guy that goes anywhere in that 4th to 6th area. He's probably a 4.6x guy and he's kinda short. Not a problem really for an RB just stating what I see. I wouldn't have an issue with him being a Chief.

I'd spend a 2nd on a RB, if he can be a legit pass catching 3 down guy.

This draft looks super deep to me. If we compare previous drafts, think about when we drafted CEH, how does he compare to Blake corum? Wouldn’t you pick corum over CEH? Corum has production and is a better athlete. I point this out because of the depth of this draft. I don’t necessarily want corum but I wouldn’t be upset with the pick at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if corum fell to the early third round. guerendo is a better value in the 4th or 5th and I love his upside with his size and speed in our offense.

Corum clocked 21.1 on the gps and is built thick like CEH. He’s faster. Take a look at this.

In the past two drafts, only 3 RBs have been taken in rounds 1 & 2. The 4th-8th RBs taken were drafted in rounds 3 & 4 in 2023. In 2022, RBs 4-11 were selected in rounds 3 & 4. I’ve seen estime around 5, so he’s likely a late 3rd round pick but a Braelon Allen has been ranked all over from 6th to 10th. So, Allen could possibly be drafted in the 4th? Please see below for the last two years of rbs draft position. The 8th rb taken has been in the 4th round in the last two years. How many rbs do you see taken in each round?

The averages over the last 6 drafts:
R1 1.5, R2 2.5, R3 3.2, R4 3.8, R5 2.7, R6 3.7, R7 3.0

The likelihood of a R1 RB this year? Probably Zero. I think it'll look like a blend of 2022 and 2019... ish. And those just happen to be the two years in that span with higher than average (20) numbers of backs taken (22 and 23, respectively). I have 25 draftable RBs. Of course, a few might go undrafted.

Here's my take...

Round 2
Jonathan Brooks, Texas
Trey Benson, Florida State
Jaylen Wright, Tennessee

Round 3
Braelon Allen, Wisconsin
Blake Corum, Michigan
Audric Estime, Notre Dame
Will Shipley, Clemson

Round 4
Bucky Irving, Oregon
Marshawn Lloyd, USC
Frank Gore Jr, Southern Miss
Cody Schrader, Missouri

Round 5
Isaac Guerendo, Louisville
Kendall Milton, Georgia
Emani Bailey, TCU
Kimani Vidal, Troy

Round 6
Daijun Edwards, Georgia
Jase McClellin, Alabama
Dylan Laube, New Hampshire
Blake Watson, Memphis
Jawhar Jordan, Louisville

Round 7
Ray Davis, Kentucky
Isaiah Davis, South Dakota State
Miyan Williams, Ohio State
Carson Steele, UCLA
Dillon Johnson, Washington

Wildcards
Michael Wiley, Arizona
Jaden Shirden, Monmouth
