Kansas/Missouri Pawn Shops

Surely I'm not the only one that likes going to pawn shops that posts here.

You never know what you may find inside. DVD's, CD's, videogames, chainsaws, electronics, car alarms, bikes, pool sticks, guns, ammo, and jewelry.

So where is your favorite pawn shop in Kansas or Missouri?

I hate pawn shops. Back in 1994 my house got broken into by a 15 year old kid. He stole about 500 CDs, most of which were jazz, blues and 1960's rock n roll. Not the kind of thing a 15 year old would be into. If the CDs cost $10 each new, that's about $5000 worth of music.

He took them to 23rd St. Pawn in Independence, about two miles from my house. Pawn shop paid him $100 for them, around .20 a disc. I found them the next day after the burgulary, pawn shop had already sold about 50 of the stolen discs, which, all, by the way, had MY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER on each one.

Independence police showed up, said there was nothing I could do about the ones that were sold, but the pawn shop owner "voluntarily" returned the remaining discs he had on his shelf for sale.

Slimy POS.

Just bad karma around Pawn Shops. Stolen stuff, people down on their luck, sleazy, crappy, nasty business.

I had some revenge on a pawn shop here in town last year. My wife had an old ring that a boyfriend gave her that she wanted to sell. She said they bought it for 500 or something. I talked the pawn shop guy up to 1000 bucks and left with a smile, and a grand.

Sometimes. But frequently, they want so close to retail for used crap that it makes more sense to go buy new for the warranty (and peace of mind that you're not buy stolen crap).

Thanks all.

Theres nothing quite like making a thread hoping to get some positive feedback and then being shot down in flames by all the negative Nancy's.

Have a great day
