Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

As you'll come to learn with our team, our fail will continue not only because of the players on the field, the coaches on the sideline/booth, the leadership in suits, but mainly because of the one constant this team has suffered through all of it --- ownership. We have, hands-down, the worst family in the world owning this NFL team. They are as "NFL-Stupid" as any person on the face of the planet, but they own the team no matter what. Other than being stupid rich, in the area of NFL ownership and team-success, they are a family that amounts to that scum shit on the bottom of a 10-year-old trash can that can't even be scrubbed away and smells really bad. They are shit, and they will never sell this team because they are money-grubbing assholes and this isn't just free money, it's a LOT of free money...

But alas, we're used to it...
Ownership is everything. The Yorks were absentee owners of the 49ers and they were bottom dwellers. The son, Jed York, lives and dies 49er football and since he has taken over, promoted Baalke to GM, hired Jim Harbaugh, and just stayed out of the way -- well you see the result.

He is the anti-Al Davis.

It is sad but true that you are more or less screwed until your owner wants to win, will put his money where his mouth is, hire good people, and not interfere.

You have a good coach & GM so here is hoping your owner really wants it, but there isn't much reason for optimism until you see the team culture really change for the best.

Good luck. Just beat the Raiders twice a year.

I wish I could make Snoopy or "Alex Smith Fan" leave you guys alone but I can't. I'm sorry you are stuck with him. He is like gangrene -- you are stuck with him until you lop off a limb. So he is yours to deal with now.

He is a rabid Alex Smith fanatic groupie to the exclusion of all else. He will disrupt your board during the season if you let him. You have 2 choice.

Put him on ignore and live in peace.

Or if you just like to argue with people and get a rise out of people and push them over the edge of sanity, go play with him because he is a very easy mark. He is very easy to manipulate. I just don't go in for that kind of thing.

I wish he would just leave or that you all would just put him on ignore and he would get bored and take his antics to another Chiefs forum.

At the same time, if you really come to hate Alex Smith (I don't see why, he isn't the problem -- Hunt is), then you can get some relieve taking out your frustrations on Snoopy "Alex Smith Fan". He is going to be busy fielding all comers this season.

He will have 20,000 posts in no time. Mark my words.

Yeah, well, as long as Clark Hunt is chest deep in hookers he's happy... Short of that, he only "NFLs" long enough to feed the cash cow. There hasn't been anything "football" - short of money - in the Hunt family since the 60s! I'll keep saying it, we're used to it and only a few people on earth really think differently... It's impossible to be "into football" and suffer this many years of fail. 1969 doode, 1969!!

Im a 49er fan, I just want to give my point of view on Alex Smith.

Alex is a good quarterback, very underrated.

1) He's VERY smart
In and outside of football (the guy had a 4.4 high school GPA, and got his college degree in 3 years). He's great at making changes at the line, one of the best in the league because he's so smart. He's very good at reading defenses and makes quick decisions.

2) This guy is efficient as heck.
He had a 70% completion percentage before he lost his job due to an injury. That was the best in the league at that time, the highest this season was Manning and Ryan at 68%.

3) He's mobile.
Very underrated athlete. Just look at this video.
(I'm not allowed to post videos, see run vs NO Saints)
The guy outran the whole saints defense. He's not Michael Vick or RG3 but he can run when needed.

4. He's clutch.
(the whole NO Saints 4th quarter! Amazing performance)
That's not it though. He had SEVEN 4th quarter comebacks/ game winning drives in 2011. The guy is clutch as hell.

5. He's accurate.
Short range and mid range, he's one of the best. Deep ball is average due to his shoulder surgery. His arm was very good pre-surgery, now it's slightly above average. This doesn't mean he's a noodle arm, he can still throw it deep. Just look at Vernon Davis' highlights the last 4 years, his deep ball to Vernon was money every time, but he's obviously no gunslinger.

6. He doesn't turn the ball over.
Alex always takes care of the ball. He won't lose you games from turnovers. Obviously every QB has their bad games, Alex had one vs the Giants. But outside of that game he threw 7 INTs in his last 22 games.

7. He has improved every single year.
Especially these last 2 years. I thought Alex was starting to break out before he got hurt. He looked so damn good the previous 3 weeks. He was improving with Harbaugh, his last game before he was concussed he completed 18 of 19 and won offensive player of the week against a good Cardinals defense (at the time).

He threw 62 TDs to 32 INTs in his last (about) 45 games. He is not a bad quarterback. Another thing is that who the heck else did you guys want? There's no better QB in free agency or the draft available this year. Geno Smith? lol.. bust written all over him.

I think Alex will flourish under Reid, and will prove a lot of people wrong.

PS, Alex's nickname is The Phoenix.

Conversation I had with a female friend of mine who is a casual football fan:

D: So the Chiefs finally dumped Cassel.

her: Thank god! He was terrible. Who'd they bring in?

D: Well... I don't mean to brag, but did you watch the 49ers in the Super Bowl?

her: THEY GOT COLIN KAEPERNICK!?!?

D: Erm, no. They got the white guy who backs him up.

her: *deflated* Really? Who the hell is he?

D: Dude's name is Alex Smith. We traded for him.

her: Who? I've never heard of him.

D: He was a big deal back in 2005. He's flopped around, hasn't played well but played okay last year until Kaepernick became Superman.

her: I am so sick of them getting QBs I have never heard of. Get somebody good!

D: You've actually seen Alex Smith play. We were both in Arrowhead together when the Chiefs blew him out.

her: With Matt Cassel.

D: ...oh god. Yes. God.

No, I just appreciate that a n00b contributed thoughtful material with information to back up his claims.

I don't give a shit if I agree with him (obviously, since I post in DC all the time) but this is an example of what a n00b fan from another team should do on ChiefsPlanet.

I completely forgot that Matt Cassel blew the doors off of Alex Smith.

This trade keeps getting worse and worse the more I look at it.

The fact that's it's so easy for me to find Alex Smith shit-GIFs from the last two years is disconcerting.

I've literally only looked at 3 games. There are like 15 GIFs from those games alone of him being shitty.
