Is it possible to make a bootable CD with a Win interface

I have a copy of Windows Media Center Edition 2005, but it only installs from a windows environment. It's not an upgrade, as it lets me install the system fresh on my slave drive OR upgrade on the master drive. Problem is, I'd like to install on my primary drive when it's clean, as Win XP is fugging up my combo of All-in-Wonder 9800Pro and HDTV Wonder with outdated drivers before MCE 2005 gets in there and sets it up [ostensibly correctly]. Is there any way to create a bootable CD that I can use first, then run the Setup from the MCE installation disc, leaving the HD clean until MCE is introduced?

GFY.

You weren't giving advice. Were soapboxing for something irrelevant to the topic, which I wasn't interested in. And when I told you politely that the reasons I wasn't interested, you pulled continued to soapbox.

It's about as stupid as someone asking for info about the Chiefs' history, and you 'informing' him that the arena football league was in full swing, and was a better sport anyways, and he ought to watch that instead. Who the fuck cares about your opinion on arena football?

I've not had problems with you in the past, and am dismayed that this petty shit has gotten this protracted. But I guess I never wandered near your Linux DVR soapbox before.

I've thanked the person who actually had a constructive post.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I thought the info KC Jones volunteered was relevent. Maybe not to you, BL - but to other bystanders interested in DVRs. I know my opinion wasn't solicited, but I also feel like BL flew off the handle on this one. Heh.

BL, you've had a shitload of computer related stress lately. Is it possible that contributed to the sandy vagina response here?

FTR, this shit escalated from KC's tone as much as mine.
If you'll look, the exchange escalated as follows.

BL - I need advice on x.
KC - you shouldn't even try to do that. you need an entirely different approach, where you buy a whole bunch of stuff you don't have and throw away a bunch of other stuff you do have. Then build another computer.
BL - you see that doesn't work for me, because I need x and x and x.
KC - you're an idiot, but oh well. lie there in your own shit.
BL - consider me scolded.
KC - you're a whiny bitch.
BL - GFY

Notice I didn't start off with the GFY.

Meanwhile, nmt gave me exactly the advice I needed and I thanked him for it. And right now, I'm watching HDTV, recording SDTV, surfing the net, and typing a document in Word.

So I guess I shouldn't say anything about the fact you should have bought an Apple?

I haven't ever tried to what you are doing, so I wish you luck. I remember having a similar issue with getting XP installed, but my issue was that my DVD Burner a wasn't bootable, but switching to an older CD drive that was allowed me to install it. It was odd and painful.

Glad it was helpful. As I said before, we use it at work when someone's hard drive takes a dump. I've not tried running installs through it though. I know it supports USB which is helpful when saving data from a dying drive.
I haven't had occasion to try it out at home where I'd probably be doing more of the kind of thing you're doing.

Get used to it - this is a tech forum.

This is the 21st century. Computers now occupy the same position that muscle cars held with men in 1978.

If you think this is bad, try posting a question about Internet Explorer. You'll get nothing but responses about how you're stupid and should be using Firefox...

Heh, those crack me up. You can immediately tell the technon00bs from those posts as they're the ones who prattle on & on about how IE sucks, but they have no clue as to why... and why "Firefox is bettur"

I know alot of people really like Firefox.

I just don't see the use. IE is built-in to WinXP. I don't have to install anything.

I don't surf porn and warez sites, so I'm not that worried about malicious code.

All I do is surf the Planet and occassionally check the weather or news. If it works, I ain't gonna **** with it.

I went back and read my posts. Their nothing like what you're saying above. The build your own DVR link I posted has a lot of great information about created a DVR including using windows MCE. I'm sorry that you were feeling so sensitive about the issue. I didn't realize you were going to break down into a PMS outburst. In the future I'll be doubly careful not to post anything that might upset your delicate sense of self-worth. For the record this is a public forum, and it's not only acceptible to post something related but not exactly what the topic creator had in mind, but also acceptible to post something totally off topic. I suggest you grow a sack.
