Decade's Ten Best Teams To NOT Win a Super Bowl

No. 10 - 2003 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (13-3):
This Chiefs team is known for two things. One was that amazing season Priest Holmes had and the other is the returns of Dante Hall. Dick Vermeil brought his high octane offense across state the Kansas City and (finally) made Trent Green into a premiere QB. These Chiefs lost to the Colts in the divisional round of the playoffs in a game that featured ZERO punts.

No. 1 - 2007 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (16-0)

Peyton Manning did his job. Dick Vermiel didn't.

I don't know how others feel, but we were 9 & 0 when Mike Maslowski went down with injury. That was a major blow to our defense & all we had to do was stop the Colts 1 one freaking time in the playoffs. With Maslowski we could have made that stop. Damn.

Ummm...we had homefield. That game would have been in KC. And, when we played the pats in 2002, (in NE), they couldn't stop us. We lost, but both teams put up more than 30 and it was close.

No. 4 - 2006 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (14-2): The Chargers may be the posterboys for undercheiving in the last decade. This Chargers team put up nearly 500 points with LaDainian Tomlinson rushing for a league record 28 TDs (he caught another three TD passes for a record 31 total TDs) and piled up over 1,800 yards. The Bolts had an amazing 11 Pro Bowl players. Too bad that they had to play that pesky postseason and were unceremoniously beaten by the Patriots.

Wrong. The Patriots had the #1 seed with a 14-2 record. The 2002 Patriots had a weak defense. They switched to the 3-4, got Ted Washington to plug up the middle, drafted Ty Warren, Eugene Wilson, and Asante Samuel and signed Rodney Harrison and had the best defense in the league. No way they lose to the Chiefs.

Actually, we always matched up much better against those Patriots teams than we did against the Colts. Even the 2004 team really should have beaten the Pats at home on MNF, but Eddie Kennison had an absolutely unforgivable drop, and Green made a horrendous EZ throw that combined cost us 14 points.

The 2005 team beat the shit out of the Pats in a game that may still be Brady's worst as a pro, and the 2002 team took them to overtime before Troy Brown caught a billion straight passes.
