SSD Hard drives

How many of you have one in your computer?

I have a 2.5 yr old computer with one but my computer guy for some reason didnt put the operating system on it, so I heard Im probably not getting the full effect of it.

Im going to upgrade computers and going to buy another SSD, really only need a 128GB one. Ive been reading that you can keep archived files and stuff u dont really use very much on the regular HD with no problems. Anything I need to know? These things easy to put in and install by an idiot? (Me)

This is worth it to me. Civ V and WoW both load a million times faster on a SSD. And even if this is shortening the life of the SSD, they're so cheap now, IDGAF. Saving those minutes adds up.

Good for you. Most people, including you, do not need that much hard drive space.

I hope posting that you have 6TB of drive space makes you feel like a rockstar.

Not nearly as much as you would think. SSD costs are dropping like a rock.

my 500 gig was like $159

Best thing to do is combine a SSD OS with a platter storage.

You can get 250 gig SSD for a hundred bucks.

1TB is about the largest external SSD you can get right now. Runs about $500 for a 1TB SSD external.

You can get a 4TB internal SSD for $7800.

So, what is the best bang for your buck SSD, of a smaller size such as 128 GB? That is all I need.

People that work in Audio/VFX/Post Production need that much space and more.

I have 7 TB's of drive space in my rack case with room for three more drives.

If you need 128gb, you should buy a 250 gb for virtual memory and a host of other Windows related files.

I said MOST people. And if they are in position they need this I hope they are not using $60 drives and invest in a reliable backup solution.
