Thank you Clark...

The money, time, and effort you've saved me this year is appreciated.

I won't have to worry about have the rug ripped out from under me come week 3 or 5.

I won't have all my vacation days wasted taking off every sunday and the draft.

Speaking of the draft: I won't have to get my hopes up there either. I already know we won't use a 1st or 2nd on a QB and I won't have to feel the yearly pain and disspa-noint that is the KC Chiefs 1st round draft pick. We'll take our LT, let our current LT go, and that will be that.

I won't spend all that money on new gear as excitement builds for the new year.

All this saved by letting us know now that things will not be different...

Meh.

If Alex Smith turns into Trent Green it's a good trade but he better give us 5 years of 2003-2005 Trent Green...anything else is 100% fail and the new regime just put all the pressure on this move to work and work fast.

So if Smith leads a top 5 NFL offense for two years he's worth it?

Agreed...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

A 2nd round pick for a Trent Green tenure? 100% yes. The one kicker would be how Geno turns out though...or any top 10 QB taken.

I'm realistic though. Dane considered the 4th for Roaf and the 1st for Green fails because we didn't win a Super Bowl which is ridiculous because our offense had little to do with that.

It was his fault in 2003 eh? The no punt game? Riiight.

Alex Smith is KC Trent Green or bust now.

I know we're disappointed but now it is what it is...if he's not as good as a 2003 Trent Green from game 1 this is an awful trade.

Just for the record, all of the Chiefsplanet Genious (chiefsplanet spelling) were absolutely opposed to the Green trade when it happened. The BB was, then, much like it is today...filled with wailing and crying.

I was against DV coming here. I said we'd be all offense no defense.

That's what happened...

No where in my post did I mention Vermeil...I spoke specifically to the Green trade. Let's not confuse things.

Yeah, it was Green's fault that team wasn't a contender.

That's who followed him. That was his emphasis.

For the record Green evolved and became a legit QB. He ran two top 5 offenses. Green wasn't the problem any more than Will Shields or Roaf were.

DV was...

I'll type this slowly, since you apparently missed it before...

This BB's intellegensia aka the Genious were adamantly opposed against the Green trade. Period.

Ok.

Most were against the Ca$$hole trade as well. Most were right about the Ca$$hole trade...

It's still fail. The Chiefs passed on a decade or more of good to great play from Drew Brees for four good years of Trent Green (2002-2005). How could you possibly argue otherwise?

As for Roaf, the Chiefs gave up a third rounder for him, not a fourth. He didn't play well in 2002 because he was still recovering from surgery the prior season but played great in 2003, 2004 and part of 2005. Again, I would not categorize that as a great trade.

Let's just hope that the Chiefs didn't trade away the rights to another Drew Brees...
