This seems more anti-consumer than anything. Interfacing your headphones wirelessly gives the companies more control. So instead of analog to listen to whatever music you happen to have, DRM can dictate whether to send the signal to the earphones or not. I see no upside to this, and phones have been waterproofed before and could still have a headphone jack.

Bluetooth hasn't had this issue. I don't see the problem coming that you're talking about.
