The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

I do not want to take a tackle number one if we trade Albert or not but I guess this is inevitable. I still hope we can trade down its crazy we get the first pick for the first time in my life and I don't want them to take anyone there I would like them to trade it. All I want to hear is there was trade of the first pick on Thursday.

The Miami Dolphins are willing to meet Kansas City Chiefs OT Branden Albert's contract demands, and are waiting to hear back from Kansas City. Albert is looking for money similar to Houston Texans OL Duane Brown.

It's hard for me to say Joeckel, as some have Fisher rated higher or even. If a guy is even with another guy, either their both that good, or their overrated.

Star would be up there too.

Probably Cooper or Warmack or Jarvis as pure BPA of what they've done.

The moment we tagged Albert, he did gain some leverage $$$ wise. He is sitting at nearly $10 million right now and by being tagged he can point to people in saying he is worth top 5 $$$ supposedly. In reality he is closer to top 10 range. $7 million a year puts him in the top 15 range of OT's. Is it $7 million what teams are thinking or are they willing to go slightly higher to around top 10 $$$?

Not happening now since the Dolphins are willing to pay Albert big money.
