2016 KC Chiefs Goat(s)

Every year there a few Chiefs who I start out being kind of "down" on. You know, guys who are supposed to be better than their performance, or new guys who you just can't warm up to.....so, you don't exactly hate 'em, but you watch them with suspicion.

Examples of prior such "goats" include:

Alex - Too darned risk averse (i.e. deflated balls)
Fisher - Expected more of a #1 pick
Ford - Terrible at everything except first step
Wilson - Won't dive for the ball
Sorensen - Not fast enough
Parker - Misses too many tackles
DAT - Timid
Fleming - Too toasty
Gaines - Brittle
Santos - Any kicker can qualify to be disliked with a couple of bad kicks
Colquitt - See above
Etc.

Anyway, this year, the guy I'm most "down" on is Mr Dee Ford. I think the guy has a ton of physical talent, but I question his football IQ and his dedication to the sport. Yeah, perhaps he's a new man this year, but I'm gonna have to see it to believe it.

Second on my list this year is DAT. Hard to fathom what the heck happened at the end of last year. Does the guy really want to be here?

My third guy is Knile Davis. Guy has some talent, but puts the ball on the rug way too much. Hold onto the fricking ball!

So, who do you have a wayward eye on this year? Fire away, lads.

Parker didn't miss many tackles last year.

Fisher all things considered was the right pick.

Ford is not "terrible" at everything else.

Gaines will be fine.

Charles and Houston will be shadows of their former selves.

Excuses will be made.

JFC neither one of them is 30 years old and an ACL injury is nothing these days. Just kill yourself already.

Houston and Charles have had multiple serious injuries already in their careers.

Not saying they won't eventually bounce back but wishful thinking to think both will be 100% this year.

They will probably be good, just not great. We need them to be great for this team to get to a SB.

Playing ILB and 3-4 DE is a whole different ballgame, though.

Charles is nearing 30 and hasn't had an outstanding season since 2012. The Chiefs also have West and Ware, so it doesn't really matter.

Von Miller had 14 sacks following a torn ACL.

You're talking out of your Claynus, as usual.

2013 wasn't outstanding?

Almost 2,000 total yards. 19 total TD's.

He was fine and it was his best season as a receiver.

I tend to think "outstanding" as a running back is 1,500 yards or more on the ground.

You should change your criteria for an outstanding season, especially considering the direction this league is heading.

Dude had 19 TDs in 2013 and, IIRC, 14 TDs in 2014. If you include his TDs in the limited time he played in 2015, he's averaging more than a TD per game over the past 3 seasons. That's better than outstanding- that's ****ing PHENOMENAL.

Dude would have to have a 15 yard YPC. He's not going to get 1500 on the ground again. You need to include catches, Reid likes the old throwing handoff.
