Since we're starting over (again), how are we build for a 4-3?

It's a possibility since we're going to have a new GM/Coach/DC. How do our current pieces fit in a 4-3.

D-Line:
Tamba would probably move back to DE
Poe would be one DT
Do we now consider bringing Dorsey back?
Do Tyson Jackson, Allen Bailey, or Jerrelle Powe work in a 4-3?

Linebackers:
Houston and Johnson are locks and should do fine. Linebacker would be more of a need.

Secondary shouldn't change. We still need a starting corner and probably a starting safety.

DL: Hali-Poe-Dorsey-Jackson(?)
LB: Houston-Johnson-????
DB: Flowers, Berry, ?????,???? (Lewis is too brittle)

Houston would play the Von role and JDR won't be shy about using him as a pass rusher. I don't know if DJ has the speed to play WILL so he would probably be a MLB in JDR's scheme.
Del Rio hired all of Gunther's old offensive coaching staff when he was in Jacksonville because that's all he knew. Our offense would basically go full reerun until Del Rio.

CBS Sports line has 6 DT's going in the first 33 picks, so it is possible the Chiefs pick one up if Bowe resigns with the Chiefs. With such an abundance of talent at DT, why wast our first pick on one with such a talented field in this year's draft.

If Manning was in Jacksonville instead of Indy during JDR's tenure you would be singing a different tune about Del Rio.

Dirk Koetter was from the Gunther tree? He's doing a pretty good job in ATL right now, so is Jack's DC, Mike Smith.

If Del Rio had a QB people would be talking him up like people do Dungy. He is a good coach who never had a franchise QB.

I'm really hoping that teams are scared to hire Del Rio for HC because of his effect on the offense, I want him to stay as our DC for a few more seasons.

I think Poe/Powe/Dorsey could be a very effective 4-3 DT rotation, and Hali would be a great RDE. Houston is significantly bigger than Von, I don't know if he would stay standing or become a DE in a 4-3. Basically you would be missing 2 players out of the front 7, 2 OLBs or an OLB and a DE, depending on where Houston played.

Seems kind of dumb to switch, but what do I know?

My bad. I was thinking of Herm in New York. Del Rio hired nobody from Gunther's staff in 2003, although Koetter was not with the team at the time.

Del Rio drafted THREE QBs that saw starts for him, and two of them were in the first round. That kind of track record is ****ing abysmal and you know it.

We don't want a return of Martyball. The defense will be fine in KC.

There are other stupid franchises out there, not just KC. I'm sure somebody will take Del Rio away from you pretty soon.

People disagree but i think Hali > Powe > Poe > Houston might work

Undersized at DE
Oversized at DT

DE play the pass first
DT stop the run first

with all the beef at DT, the MLB is protected and free to run(DJ)

John Fox had that Martyball label slapped on him before he got Peyton Manning.

And I don't think Del Rio had much say in the Gabbert pick.

First off, every coach is Martyball until they get a good QB. QB's make coaches.

And second, you stick with the 34. Just play 1 gap.

Also doesn't Jack Del Rio ****ing loathe Kansas City for some stupid reason? Something to do with when he was a player here in the 80s, and he has irrationally harbored anger to the entire city as a result?
