Is our O-line ready for AFC West pass rushers?
From Arrowhead Pride:
What does the first round of the NFL Draft mean for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs? They better be ready for the pass rushers this year. We knew the AFC West pass rushers were already strong and they got even stronger with the addition of Bradley Chubb to the Denver Broncos with the No. 5 overall pick. The Chiefs loaded up with Mahomes and the Broncos responded. The Broncos have Von Miller and Chubb while the Chargers have Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. The Raiders have their young pass rusher in Khalil Mack. That makes the Chiefs and Justin Houston (and Dee Ford) look a little behind in comparison. The offensive tackle position becomes a lot more important in Kansas City. Those tackles will be facing elite pass rushers in a bunch of games going forward. Most teams have just one elite pass rusher but we are on the verge of two AFC West teams having two elite pass rushers if Chubb pans out. Eric Fisher and Mitch Schwartz are entrenched at the tackle position. I wondered if the Chiefs could draft an offensive tackle here and let him sit for a year before swapping Fisher out for him. I feel like that’s less likely now because with these pass rushers I want my next tackle to come from free agency—someone who is already a star tackle and not someone that needs to be developed while playing Von Miller (and getting Mahomes killed). https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2018/...-chiefs-so-far |
