Which, if any, old rules would make the NFL more interesting/exciting?

I did a little research on rule changes in professional football over the last 100+ years. Some crazy rules back in the day.

I cherry-picked a few that might be feasible in today's NFL.

Pick up to 3 choices

I agree with this, but I do think the officials should be able to call a spot of a foul DPI for a flagrant DPI when a DB is getting burned and grabs the leg of a receiver to prevent a sure touchdown.

Imagine that in the modern NFL. Fade passes in the end zone would no longer count, and on short runs, the scrum would be marvelous.
That’s how NRL is.

I'm tired of the ground can't cause a fumble rule; they go super slo-mo, frame by frame to see if a thread of his uniform is touching the ground before the ball comes out. If going to the ground in the process of making a catch is required, why not as you are being tackled? If you hit the ground and lose the ball, it's a FUMBLE!

I had to look it up.

The last successful drop kick field goal was in the 1930s. Doug Flutie drop kicked an extra point in 2006.

Go back to making intentional grounding illegal. QB rolling out used to be very exciting play now it's usually just a throw away. Make a play or take the sack

Nah, that assumes that a catch would be made, which however likely, it's not a guarantee. That's what I hate about spot fouls, it assumes that the catch would be made, but it's possible that the guy would drop the ball as well. Since we don't know, it should be 15 yards for preventing the opportunity for a catch, not preventing a catch.

Plus, all that leads to more subjective calls as well. More arguments. More controversy. This way it's a 15 yarder period.

Why not have the option of a penalty touchdown like in both forms of rugby for situations where a score was a certainty had the foul not taken place. Could also work if a player fumbles in the act of scoring as a runner due to a blatant helmet to helmet illegal hit.

Sudden death, and no push out incompletions when the receiver is attempting to put both feet inbounds

A 25 yard penalty for taking a knee to run out the clock and the victory formation is abolished.

A shot clock for instant replay reviews. All of the things that slow or stop the game is what is hurting the game and get the game out of flow.

Voted for wider uprights. Figured our Kicker and Holder could use the help there.

Also voted for no ties.

It'll never go over, but my idea would be that the replay official gets 1 minute to find the best angle, and the ref gets 30 seconds to watch it IN REAL TIME.

If you can't overturn something when you see it in real time, the call on the field should stand IMO.

But it'll never happen.

Go back to the old kickoff rules. Kick from the 30, running starts allowed for regular and onside kicks, touchback comes out to the 20
