You're not wrong about Farley, but when you only star in two movies before you OD, your stuff tends to age better than doing it over and over and over again.

I agree that many of her movies are. She definitely likes a paycheck. Can't blame her too much, though.

Talent-wise she is not remotely comparable to James. Just my opinion.

I think his career would have shaped up a lot like hers. A few great ones and a lot of trash. Hell, you already forgot about Beverly Hills Ninja and Almost Heroes. (Not that I blame you) Happens to most pure comedy actors. Ferrell has had a better success rate than most, but it seems pretty common. Add to that both Farley and McCarthy are extremely (unfortunately on both counts) limited by type and the choices for great pictures to star in narrow considerably.

Much like McCarthy needs a good writer/situation developer to guide her talents, Farley would have needed an advisor to help him pick quality projects.

Farley was a once in a generation talent, but he just wanted to get in front of a camera and mug. I don't doubt you could have talked him into local used car lot commercials if you talked them up. That's what saddled him in BHN and Almost Heroes, not a lack of ability. His career could have mirrored that best of John Candy if handled right.

Sure I do. If for no other reason than it happens almost constantly. The problem isn't even casting. It's a lack of roles for women that don't revolve around their relationship with a man. I think Paul Feig saw this as an opportunity to tell a story about women, not focused on their role as a romantic interest. "Why couldn't four scientists (or three and one other hired assistant) be women? Let's try that!" Almost without fail, when these roles come up they go to men. So one movie out a thousand goes the other way, even intentionally, I say go for it. Who ****ing cares?

I did forget about Beverly Hills Ninja. I guess I never really considered Almost Heroes because I thought he died during filming and his role wasn't finished.
