First, there are black players on his own team and on the stands. You would think others around him would have gotten to him before Smart did if he said that. I'm not naive enough to say that that that would prevent all people from saying that, but I would hope that he didn't. I have no way of knowing what the guy said, I just hope he didn't say that. I said it was just my opinion. I guess we'll find out.

He probably did. Not sure what else he would have said, "nice foul bitch"? Doesn't change the fact that every player goes into gyms where people say terrible things and they don't go into the stands and try to kick old dudes asses.

By this time next year, this situation and his team's shitty season (which really isn't his fault at all, he's playing better than last year) will be long gone in everyone's minds beyond those who hold a grudge.
I'm not holding a grudge. He's a great player. He beat a really really good, consistent, defensively sound KU team almost by himself. That was an incredible performance. He is not that guy. He came back to get better. He's not. Yeah, he's got stats, but he's not that guy.

To think otherwise is being disingenuous at best.

I'm trying to wait and hear some more details before forming an opinion. No matter what happens, I'd like to see all parties held responsible. Did anybody hear the PA announcer come on and say "Please refrain from throwing things on the floor" right after we saw Smart push the guy? Were there issues with things being thrown on the floor before the incident?

Spradling has done nothing against KU for the most part. Hard for me to get wound up about him.

I just remember how cocky he was as a freshman prior to getting dismantled by Duke in KC. At this point it's pretty much just LOL Will Spradling.

And nobody would say that's acceptable. But what was said does greatly change how the incident was perceived.

He's pretty much exactly the same guy. Contributing in all the same ways (even with flopping) at the same rates except with a higher level of offensive efficiency this year. The only difference is that his team is losing more often and the media narrative about him as changed as a result.

That's not exactly what happened, though.

It's best to read this link because the Twitter stuff is all images, so it would be difficult to post here. Basically, Fox 4 is at the center of the Go Back to ------.

Smart showing restraint is a good step. I applaud him for not really becoming violent with this baffoon.

"Not becoming violent" should be the default position of humans, not something you applaud.
