Best QB to ever play at KU?
BTW, I believe his height was definitely 5'10" in 2007. Just look at him next to the 5'10" Desmond Howard in this 2007 video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6MFwkw9KXA He may have gained an inch in the last couple years. Does that height make that much difference? I don't think so. The kid has got heart. He is a winner and we're lucky to have him.

He had an offer from Duke? Why did he choose kU? Not trying to troll (although it may sound like it)...I'd say the same thing if he played at MU. For someone that won't play after college, he should have gone for the best education. It's like some of the kids that MU is recruiting for next year...they have offers from Stanford and places like that and I don't expect them to play for MU.

kepp,
Reesing was just interviewed in the Lawrence paper recently. He said that he plans to try to play professionally after college. Whether that be trying to walk on (unrestricted rookie FA) for an NFL team or CFL or AFL or whatever. He is very grounded in realizing his chance to play in the NFL is pretty slim. But he still wants to try to play professionally, if possible.

Todd Reesing has emerged as one of those overlooked recruits who has grown into a star in college. He might be the best argument against getting too caught up in size when it comes to recruiting. The Kansas quarterback is listed at 5-11, 200 pounds. Some say he's really just 5-9. Regardless, the kid who grew up in Austin as a huge Longhorns fan has torn up college football the past couple of seasons. This fall, Reesing is back with some terrific talent around him and leads the team that I think will win the Big 12 North. Last week I had a chance to visit with him. Q: Besides Kansas, how many other offers did you have? Reesing: The only other offer I had was from Duke. Kinda shows you what kind of player I am huh? Q: So the lack of interest came down to one simple issue, your height? Reesing: No there were others. I piss the bed a lot, so that was an issue. Duke wasn't about to buy new mattresses for me every week, and other players would complain that the house would start to smell. Whenever football at the next level is brought up, [my height] is the first thing and really the only thing that's gonna be brought up. I mean I date a woman who's 6'6, so out in public it looks kinda funny. She holds doors open for me, orders for me, and when I'm drunk she usually gives me piggy back rides to the car. She always drives because I can't handle my liquor. Q: I was at the One-Back Clinic, where there were offensive coaches from almost every conference in the country, and when your offensive coordinator (Ed Warriner) spoke, one of the guys joked from the back of the room about his program signing a 5-10 QB, and if it turns out the kid stinks, he said he's blaming Kansas. You laugh when you hear something like that? Reesing: Our offensive Coord. is a ****ing baffoon. Take him and then me, put us together and what you get is a whole bunch of shenanigans on a football field but we both just laugh about it. Watch, you'll see. Q: Whether you're 6-2 or 5-10, aren't you still shorter than pretty much every lineman you have, meaning so much of what any QB does is about finding throwing lanes? Reesing: Thank god for the shotgun formation. Q: So much of the build-up for this season has been dominated by talk about the "Big 3" QBs (Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy). As a guy who has had a ton of success, won a BCS bowl game and put up huge numbers, how competitive are you with the Big 3? Reesing: Tebow likes little boys. However the other 2 are better than anything I could ever become. |
