I figured I would start a thread for this and see what happens....there seemed to be quite a few viewers on the board for this show the past few weeks.....I like the direction the show is taking so far......episode 3 tonight at 7 central on ABC....

I love how they walk the edge of what's fact and what's perception.
Given the "Henry Gale" Wizard of Oz connection, I think the guy might be the leader of the Others or of the Dharma Initiative. He would be the "man behind the curtain" so to speak.

The look was definitely Ethan-esque. On top of that, you could see that he really 1. wanted to know where he was (or how the Losties got in the damn hatch), and 2. Changed his persona quickly when he felt he might be able to get the advantage on Sayid, when he was asking if he had lost someone too. 3. He also seemed to know that Rousseau would kill him immediately.

But you are right. Those things being said, they still walked the tightrope and played it so that it could go the other way too.

Also that whole frog thing with Sawyer was strange. Seems they walked a long ways just for him to kill it. Can the noise of those little critters go that far?
Yeah he said he mined "non-metallic" metals. According to Wikipedia (a lazy source), something's either a metal or it isn't, so that's BS.

The symbols are an imperative/causative, so it's more like "DIE!", the command.

I think the frog has to do with Walt somehow. He is trying to communicate with the Losties. He has some strange abilities like with the bird flying into the windows and stuff. Maybe he's in the underwater hatch, and that's why he appeared to be soaking wet to people in their visions.

I thought last night's was actually one of the best in a while. It didn't seem like it was an hour long, for one thing; I really got into the story. 'course, I've always found Sayid's storyline to be one of the most interesting and Clancy Brown's one cool dude.

The references to Oz;

A reference to Australia's nickname?

A tip of the hat to Mr. Eko's and Michael's prior work?

why the hieroglyphs?

Does anyone think they are going to go all
historical/Masonic global conspiracy on us?

(i.e., the Dharma initiative has been working (and making ranch dressing) since Ancient Egypt)

I don't think they are going that way though. Why let Aaron & Claire escape if that's true.

Of course it looks like the next episode will answer a lot of questions about what happened to Claire.

My guess is that it's a poisonous tree frog, so now Sawyer is gonna get sick. Here comes Jacko to the rescue, but only after a much drama queenish standoff, and thus ends Sawyer's brief run as Sheriff.

They were actors on the show OZ.

Another loose Wizard of Oz connection: when Dorothy first runs away from home and meets Marvelo/Oz he takes out a crystal ball and says it was from the ancient Egyptian queens or gods. Later they see heiroglyphics on the countdown numbers.
