I got tired of mine being used by my boys and their friends.

Anyone check out the new battlefield beta? I played it for about an hour this morning and I like it but the controls feel funny. The aiming just does not feel smooth at all.
What do you guys think?

I agree. The player movement is clunky and awkward. Similar to the America's Army game but not quite as bad.

The rest of the game is good. I hope in the full game though they have more game modes. The gold thing will get old.

Surely they wouldn't leave out team deathmatch and other modes. If so, the MP will be a waste.

I'm liking it a lot better now. I bumped up the sensitivity on the controls. Doesn't make it perfect but it's better. You have to be very cautious with your sprinting. I played 4 great games with the same team, won all 4 and by far played my best games.

Favorite part: On Oasis, was defending the first two gold thingymabobbers, when a sniper gets spotted in the building to the left across the river. So I jump up on the AA gun and level the entire building. It was amazing. For like 45 seconds the entire building was a huge series of explosions. Somehow though, this guy snuck out the back and survived. I was the support class so I call in an artillery strike which kills him right as I see him aiming at me.

Way behind the times here, but I'm currently playing Star Trek Legacy. The PC version of this game is apparently a complete overcomplicated disaster, but I heard that the Xbox version with its dumbed-down controls was much better, so I picked it up for cheap on ebay. It is still a bit on the convoluted side, but I'm really enjoying it. Being a complete Trek geek certainly helps.

I was interested in this game initially but didn't want to spit out $60 for it. What did you get it for on ebay?

IIRC I paid $25 for it, with shipping. Disc only, though (no case or manual, which was in the fine print that I didn't read). But I was able to find a manual for it for about $5, and I also got the strategy guide, which is helpful. Paid about $15 for that.

I love ebay.

I'm still in the "Enterprise" era - I've only completed four missions thus far.

One thing about the game that I don't like - there are NO save points during a mission. So if you get greased right at the end or blow an objective, you have to start all over again. Starlancer was like that, and that's one of the main reasons I never finished Starlancer. I just hope this game doesn't have any annoying/impossible time limit missions.

The combat in this game looks, and sounds, great. Feels like you're playing an episode. Nice voice work by Scott Bakula as well. Looking forward to completing the first era and getting control of the Kirk-era Enterprise.

I read that the controls are tough to get used to, as well. As a Trekkie myself, I think I can get past those little annoying issues.
