Doubtful.
He's a 1st-time offender, and he's already been placed in the teams' player assistance program... |

Why, do the Raider want him?
He hasn't been convicted yet and besides, the NFL has taken to suspending folks who do these kind of things....I look for Victor to miss a few games no matter who he plays with...plus, I think they make them go to anger management class or some **** like that... funny thing about these incidents...if it's you or me, it doesn't make the papers...but a pro-athlete is fair game... Maybe they need to make Domestic Violence control one of the required classes for all athletes...

RaiderCorporate,
I'll eat my hat if Riley if he gets released for this incident. 1st time and no one was hurt. I know you guys need a RT but trust me, he wouldn't fit in down there. His hygiene habits are excellent, he knows who both his parents and their not related to one another. Ah, the prerequisites of being part of the raiders, dare to dream! otter ~getting in some early smack

Not to smart...
Stupid, stupid, stupid! I was surprised when the news came out, but anyone can lose it I guess. I think he ought to think real hard on what's important, and I'm not talking football. What if he had hurt that child and his wife? A stupid mistake he could have ,and probably is, regretting. I don't see the Chiefs letting him go, but they need to have a real serious sit down with him.

Actually Otter, the Raiders' Offensive line situation looks good presently and RT Lincoln Kennedy was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 2000 season. Just wondering whether sensitive cheeves fans would clamor for Riley's release for is alleged bad behavior.
Mercer, maybe one day your cheeves will be good enough to lick Raiders' boot heels. |

Jeez, haven't we all rammed our wife & kid with a vehicle at some point? :D |

From what I understood his wife is pregnant too.....so does that still make him a good guy? I say NO WAY....same thing as hitting a woman. Also, DV I don't think will put up with this kind of behavior from what I have heard. Why should he? Let him go to the Raiders......shoot all they have are all the criminals and cast offs from KC and everyone else too. They may look good, but I would prefer to see a team with honesty and clean as opposed to what we have had in the past. Times are a changing.....new coaches, new players........why not new attitudes?

LOL Clint
The night Mrs. Smitty went into labor with our first child she went wacko on me and thought she was gonna "flee the scene". So I ran outside and jerked all the wires off the Distributor (sorry too many bud lights). Then she wakes me at 4:00 am and says I think I'm having contractions time these.....they're 5 min apart so we go to jump in the car and (of course) is wont start so I stick the wires and (of course) they're wrong so we get in the 61 Ford pickup and we get half a block and she says she aint riding in that "bullwagon" so we go to my folks and take their car and we take off and look at the gas gauge and (of course) it's on E. We made it and everything was fine but if she had got away from me I probly woulda chased her down and stopped however I could.

We don't know enough of the story to fairly judge Riley. Whatever happened, it could be that he's a bad guy, or it could be that something she said or did pushed him over the edge and he did something monumentally stupid, not to mention illegal. Either way, innocuous insanity or malicious violence, this is an issue for the proper authorities and the courts to decide, and ultimately not really any of our business. All I ask in situations like this is that he be treated exactly as I would (in the court's eye) had I perpetrated something like this. Assuming that, I'll trust the justice system and Coach Vermeil's judgement on this for now, because, again, I'd imagine we're not getting all of the story, and one action, even one like this, does not necessarily define a person.

Or it could have been blown way out of proportion and will be dropped before the court date arrives. To often in our society, high profile individuals are targets for similar actions. Spouses and girlfriends know this, and often in the heat of the moment use it as an advantage only to drop it later once cooled off. You also have to take into consideration the fact he has no history of anything similar while here in KC or during his College career. I am in no means saying that is the case here or that I condone or take lightly these types of actions . But I feel we should all wait for this to come to fruition before we decide to pass judgement on the man. |
