I'm seeing a lot of speakers through USB. Is that the thing to do? The docking station has an audio out port.

I got this set and it was more than enough for games, mid-level music, etc.

I needed something that could reproduce sound, and they went beyond that. Decent bass, ample mids and highs. The remote volume is very convenient. |

I was waiting to respond until I got home, but it looks like you're all set.
I know a lot of folks that have the M-Audio monitors and like them a lot, but they're a good deal more than what you found. But saying "just speakers"? The 14 year old version of yourself is disappointed. |

Holy shit, I haven't bought speakers in like 14-15 years. I have an Altec Lansing AVS500 system that still sounds good. My wife received the same system as recommended in this thread from her mom a few years back and it plays sound.
