Do you see what happens when teams actually have depth at CB?

Look at Atlanta tonight, lost their pro bowl corner so Dunta Robinson has stepped up and played nicely. To make matters worse Asante Samuel gets hurt and is out for a series, what happens? Robert Mcclain, the 4th string cb makes a highlight reel INT.

Are you watching Mr. Pioli?

Well, Bailey being out hurts us more than people would care to admit or realize, especially in our 2-3-6, which we run quite a few snaps in. Having Lewis out doesn't help at all either.

Additionally, our Defense being left on the field the entire game by Matt "Captain 3&Out" Cassel isn't really beneficial either.

Just because they aren't all-pros doesn't mean they aren't difference makers.

Bailey is the only lineman we have that provides a ****ing interior pass rush and you think that doesn't make a difference? It makes a huge difference, especially because he is our only interior guy who can rush the passer and be average against the run.

Come on man. You've been on about everything else you've posted tonight. Don't ruin it.

injuries happen to every NFL team and they adjust. I just dont buy that our entire defense falls apart because our 5th round safety and 3rd string sub package DE arent in there. Call me crazy but I dont think they are the saviors

You're right. They aren't the only reason our defense is playing awful right now (Bailey starts in our sub package which is on the field constantly, but I digress) However, this defense will continue to be shitty with Matt Cassel at QB. I can promise you that.

If you remember, once Cassel was out last year, our entire defense played at a much higher level.

Hmm interesting relationship between suckage on O and suckage on D..
I can understand 3-n-out and the D being on the field for too long. But this season has been different. In week 1, our O was trading punch for punch , where was the D?

The difference makers are losing Kelly Gregg/Amon Gordon, by a mile. Abram Elam was a complete disaster.

I don't think our corners are bad. I like Daniels a lot. Arenas is better than he gets credit for.

When you're relying on your corners to make tackles because your line interior is allowing massive cutback lanes, and your LBs aren't playing their gap responsibilities, you have problems much bigger than your secondary.

Lewis is a huge loss.

People like to pretend it's not because he's not a playmaker, but it is...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I agree. This is a very good post. The corners are probably better than most teams as a group. Anyone is going to struggle when their 3rd stringer has to start.

DJ is really missing the gaps. Especially last Sunday.

Bailey isn't playing in that 2-3-6 defense. He really struggled in camp and was demoted to 2nd string. Pitoitua and Poe are the guys that have been the main d-linemen in that formation all preseason and regular season.

The problem with the defense is this stupid 2-3-6 formation. Every TD we have given up this year but one was against this formation. It didn't work in the preseason and it's not working now. This is why I'm pissed at Romeo. It's like he has out-thought himself. Why is he changing his defense in the third year here? He needs to go back to what we did last year in the nickel. We rarely ran this package.

This package was designed for Berry to have success but it isn't working. There was an interview late in camp where Berry talked about all the the things they had planned for him in 2011 but then he got hurt. It really doesn't seem to be helping him at all.

Also, Chan really exposed the 2-3-6 formation when he ran HB draw and delay plays out of the spread. Romeo should scrap that stupid formation quick. He needs to go back to our standard nickel packages with either 3 or 4 down linemen.

He's not good in run support. He might call some of the alignments and get a pick now and again but, the reality is that we shouldn't ever be counting on the guy. He's always hurt. It's time to replace Lewis in my opinion. The injuries are getting old.
