Bruce Arians is off to a rocky, rocky start

I know, I know. I've said a lot about this. But I swear, there's new information in here that hasn't been brought up on CP. Be glad the Chiefs didn't hire him. I give him 2-3 years tops before he's on the hot seat.

Here's what we're learning:
  • Like ***** and Carl Peterson, he hires his croney friends. "There will be a common thread in this coaching staff," he said. "They will have either played for me, coached for me, some as far back as 30 years." Uh oh.
  • He demanded that Todd Bowles be his guy. The guy is going to be a disaster of a DC. Uh oh.
  • Remember that shitty 2-gap scheme that's outdated and ineffective? Guess who's spent almost his entire career coaching it? That's right. Todd Bowles. More than likely, he's replacing a perfectly good scheme for a shitty one.
  • jasonsauto, this one's for you. There is growing proof that Arians was going to hire Bowles no matter what. See the links below.
  • Arians wants to coach and call plays, and he hired a ridiculous inexperienced yes-man to be his OC. Isn't it clear this is a lousy model?

Dare I say... he's about to build Kansas City West?

Okay, he hasn't been hired yet. But I trust our sources here on CP that it's only a matter of time before he is.

That's a fair point. Right now, you see Goodwin as a pure administrator for Arians on the offensive side. He's going to be really ill-equipped to put together a passing plan together. His background indicates he's probably going to be more involved with designing the blocking schemes. Arians is going to have to take on a LOT of coordinator responsibility (yes... this is, by the way, at least an improvement over Haley in 2009, who thought he could operate fine without anybody... period. But not much different from when he thought he could operate with Muir as a lackey).

Arians has more experience as a coach before he was hired as HC than Haley did.
Despite his success in Indy, I don't think he's prepared for how much administrative BS he's going to have to deal with as a full-time head coach. I think he's making a big mistake by believing he can do too much. The best coaches, in my opinion, are the ones who are excellent at delegating to others.

No, it's when posters obsess about attacking me as a poster rather than attacking the points. It happens in tons of threads I'm in. I'm happy to debate the points. Calling me out for small petty things like that... I know you're better than that.

Dude I called you out because you were patting your back about him not even getting hired literally an hour prior to him getting hired.

You looked like a fool. Then you tried to spin it and looked more foolish.

I have several links in there. There are several exact quotes that reveal a lot of interesting info about Arians' philosophy. Exact quotes. And I can guarantee the OP includes information people hadn't heard before.

Debate the points, folks. There is plenty of meaty stuff in there to discuss, whether you agree with what I've said or not.

I am obsessed with proving I'm right about Bruce Arians being an overrated coach. I'm not going to deny that.

And I admit a lot of mistakes I've made. I've made some dumb ones. Call me out on any thread for my early support of Cassel or Pioli. I never spin my stupidity on those points. I'm not going to admit a mistake here. I was patting myself on the back because he hadn't been hired yet and that that deep into the coaching search, that proved he wasn't a highly coveted candidate. The timing made me look foolish, but my point hasn't been proven wrong. Just because he got hired, doesn't mean he was a good candidate.

I guess we will see in a few years. Based on your record, you are probably wrong.
