Will the SOC fire up if no QB in the first?

Just curious. I hope so because it would royally be depressing.

He didn't "need" to try to save his job. As we saw this offseason, he was far and away the hottest coaching prospect on the market. He needed that job in Philly like he needed another nose. He knew and always knew that he could have another job inside of a week in most cities in the league.

I notice that you arbitrarily chose 30 years. I'm sure that was just a coincidence and that you didn't deliberately exclude Len Dawson, who led the Chiefs to three AFL championships and two Super Bowls. I realize that it's ancient history and not really relevant to today's NFL, but if you're going to go back 30 years to make a point, you might as well be honest about it and go back 40 years.

I think we all forgot about Drew Brees. He's not bad for a retread quarterback. Admittedly he is the exception and not the rule, but it proves pretty convincingly that it is POSSIBLE to win the whole thing with a retread quarterback. I think the Saints are pretty glad to have their retread.

Now that I've made that point, I think I'll stop arguing in this thread for two reasons: (1) I want the Chiefs to draft Geno Smith, and (2) It just feels wrong to be on the same side of this argument with Tony77. His arguments are pathetic.

Why would I include Len Dawson? He played in an era where football was a SECOND JOB.

What Len Dawson did in the era of single bar facemasks is hardly relevant in 2013.

You said it yourself - Brees is the exception to the rule. And remember, we root for the Chiefs. If it's bad, and it can happen, it will happen to US.
