Neutral observers who are paid to comment on college basketball can make an unbiased comment without "rooting for the underdog". And by the way, it wasn't just the charge non-call. The guy that kept the play alive was Withey, who had fouled out. And the ensuing foul called on the ground (that wasn't a foul) was called by the ref who just 2 seconds earlier had swallowed his whistle on the charge. Whatever, I'm done now. KU won and you have to be excited that Elijah is back from the dead. Scary team if you get he and McLemore going together.

After extensive research I did find that when cross section is used as a verb or an adjective, there is, indeed, a hyphen in there. I don't think you were using "cross section" as a verb or an adjective in your sentence. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I like learning new things, so if you could provide me with a link of some sort proving this to be incorrect, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, I was rooting for Kansas basketball when I was 10 years old. It was just another sport, along with rooting for the Chiefs and Royals... and they're 40 minutes away. I root for the school I went to, which will never play Kansas in anything. I'm not going to stop rooting for Kansas basketball because of a purely academic choice.

I'd kind of understand your argument if choosing a college team only happened once you turned 18, but like I said, it was just another sport at the time.

The hyphen always precedes the noun, as a cunjunctive adjective. If I left that unclear in my post, that's my fault. Also, the grammatical nitpicking was only a reply to you doing the same. The hyphen eliminates any possible ambiguity. They teach you things like this at the Mizzou J-School
