Early Afternoon Bullshit: Who's planning to attend the playoff game?

Granted, nothing is set in stone yet as far as positioning is concerned, but who's thinking of making a trip to see the Wild Card game?

Per cdcox, we're around 96% to end up the 5th seed, and Indy is 88% to finish as the 4th seed. I've already booked a room in both Indy and Cincinnati, just to make sure I'm covered - and to get something booked before prices rise even further.

After doing some research, you can plan on spending a pretty penny in Indy - downtown hotels are obnoxiously expensive - $150 and up for Saturday night. Only way to stay cheap is to stay 6-7 miles away out by the airport and drive in on gameday. Cincinnati is cheaper, but downtown options are pretty limited.

So - who's going?

I was playing around with the ESPN Playoff Machine and a couple of other scenario builders and came across something odd in the NFC.

Mother of all longshots, but if Chicago was to win tomorrow, and Green Bay was to tie Pittsburgh - and then Green Bay was to beat Chicago in their Week 17 matchup - Green Bay would win the NFCN with a 8-6-2 record over the Bears at 9-7.

Also...

If KC, CIN and NE were to win tomorrow, I cannot find a scenario in which we would not play the Colts on Wild Card Weekend. (Assuming Denver wins AFCW)

The fact you dont get refunds for playoff tickets that you buy on the slim chance yor team gets to host a game is asininity bordering on straight up trolling

The ESPN machine is broken if 8-6-2 beats out 9-7.

Well actually ties are figured into a record as .5 a win and .5 a loss, so say they end up 9-6-1, its essentially calculated as 9.5-6.5, so 8-6-2 would basically be 9-7, which would tie them with the Bears, and the Packers would win the head-to-head tiebreaker in that scenario.

Actually, 2 ties = 1 win.

Both would finish with a .563 winning percentage, and Green Bay would win on a tiebreaker down the list, since they would split the head-to-head meetings.

I'm still confused actually. If a tie equals a .5 win and .5 loss, why not one extra loss with two ties instead of an extra win?

8-6-2

One of those ties gets you to 8.5-6.5. Half win, half loss.

The other gets you to 9-7. Which would be "tied" with the Bears, and the Packers would win the tiebreak on division record.

GB would be 3-2-1, and Chicago would be 2-4 in division games.

It would be an extra loss and an extra win. Each tie would be .5 a win and .5 a loss, so two ties equals a win and a loss. Add those back to their 8-6 record and you get 9-7, tying them with CHI in that scenario.

Still can be a winner even if your not technically winning.
