This backup D-Line has shown they have the ability to play.

Howard and Bailey have been solid, and Powe has been outstanding.

Yet they haven't seen the field, other than Bailey.
Hell, Powe hasn't even been able to maintain his roster spot.

I say again, I just don't get it.

You would think but you and I come from a very different era. My friend, we live in a very decadent society where professional athletes get their millions of $$ whether they win or lose and makes it much more difficult to keep that intensity level to win at all costs because integrity and character are running very low in our culture which means the integrity and intensity of the players ain't always their to win. And you just watched SD do it today against our 2nd stringers both on offense and defense. Hey, when DMC is effective and Chase Daniels is not laughed out of the stadium(of which he finally showed his true colors on that last play) you gotta wonder about the other team's intensity level.

If Succopp doesn't shit his pants with that easy ass 'extra point type' of FG then there isn't any doubt whatsoever of which I say there is still no doubt they played down to our 2nd stringers.

What you saw today the difference between Denver and SD. Manning took care of business as he should have and so should SD against our mostly 2nd stringers and won big but in reality should have lost, but got lucky.

They definitely need to quit playing musical roster spots with Powe, he's a perfect sub for Dontari.

Catapano flashed some pressure a few times as well, hell, ALL of these subs acquitted themselves incredibly well... Sutton needs to get the **** over whatever it is that's been staying his hand.

The only time you see it if there is no supposed star in front of them or injury most of the time. The other is when you have a great front office like Seattle that will go with the better player regardless of contract..

With some coaching staffs and some FOs they may operate like that I agree but remember what the NFL stands for in reality(Not For Long). To your point, the winning Championship type organizations will put their egos on the shelf IF a lower drafted player starts lighting it up thus the best player starts regardless of draft position in order TO WIN ! Imagine that ???

One of the craziest Sunday’s in NFL regular-season history included a controversial call that will be debated for decades to come in Pittsburgh.

In overtime of the Chiefs-Chargers game, the home team called a fake punt. The snap came to Eric Weddle, who ran up the middle for a first down.

But Weddle’s helmet came off and the ball came out and the Chiefs recovered it and returned it for an apparent touchdown.

The touchdown didn’t count. Referee Bill Leavy announced to the crowd that the yardage for a first down had been gained, with no explanation or elaboration as to the reason for the decision to wipe out the fumble and the return.

It wasn’t clear whether Leavy had determined that Weddle’s forward progress had been stopped, or that Weddle’s helmet came off before he fumbled, which would have killed the play. Forward progress isn’t reviewable; a helmet coming off is.

Per a league source, Leavy determined that Weddle’s forward progress had been stopped before the fumble. Right or wrong, the decision could not be reviewed.

Still, the question of whether Weddle had indeed reached the line to gain could have been reviewed, but for whatever reason it wasn’t. That’s the kind of glitch that will be avoided if/when (when) the replay function is moved to the league office.

And regardless of the nuts and bolts, Leavy should have explained the situation better. The decision removed a win from the Chiefs, and it removed the Steelers from the playoffs. Like Clete Blakeman’s perfunctory “game is over” message at the end of the Monday night game between the Patriots and Panthers, Leavy’s limited verbiage will do little to make Chiefs (and Steelers) fans believe they didn’t get screwed.

Like I said, you would think, but in reality they are not driven to win 'as much anymore' because 'they already have their $$ and fame'. They are driven more by their own fleshly desires than by integrity for the game nowadays. Even FA has proven this more often than not these past 15-20yrs.

I laugh every time I think about how the Stooler's fans dreams were crushed on that play-the elation, the excitement--the inevitable tears. In a game that didn't matter one way or another for our team, it is worth the loss.

Powe was a steal in that draft. A talented player that should have been top 3 pick but dropped too far because of "character" issues. He has been clean since he was drafted. I don't get it either.
