You can hit them with facts. They don't care. They have decided themselves that it's totally safe and not at all an asshole behavior. Information won't change their mind. They're like creationists.

I always tell people that piss won't kill you, but when you mix it with chlorine a dangerous compounds is produced that has proven links to cancer. Aside from that it often creates a huge hassle for the person who owns the pool.

Ha! People have made fun of me for how much I clean my hot tub, but I admit, the reality of what a hot tub is grosses me out as much as I love having it. So I tip the scale by cleaning and replacing the water way more often than recommended (small hot tub isn't that bad to refill.) And I am pretty particular about who I invite into it, so 90% of the time, it is just me. Plus for about half the year I only have cold water in it anyway, like a tiny pool with bubbles, so that cuts down on the bacteria some.

Yeah, Natural ecosystem pools are a big rage in Europe. They look awesome.

I had a guy on this forum one time tell me that he wasn't going to get a chlorine pool... he was getting a salt water pool!

FYI for the general public... salt water pools are chlorinated.

I am switching mine out. Was supposed to do it this summer. Don't want the salt water one--that uses some chlorine but a lot less. I want the copper system. I held off because I heard in the Florida summer heat it has issues.

No problem while tubing tho. Which in retrospect was kind of gross. We always wrapped our tubes in sheets in Arizona. So I guess I'm a bedsheets wetter. But my face goes in the pool water. I'm not going to willingly piss in it.
There is no other way on the Salt River! I don't do that float anymore.

Is it gross now?

Really would like to experience some white waters here. Or at the very least a tube down a quick river. But every week it seems like someone here is dying in our waters. I'm confident in my swimming. Would really like to swim to Alcatraz someday (without a bike ride and marathon attached.) But the waters here appear deadly.

We switched to a copper ionizer. It still requires a slight amount of chlorine but not to the levels you get when using chlorine or bromine as your only sterilizer.

We really wanted to do UV sterilization (I use it with GREAT success on my pond and fish tanks) but it would have cost us well over $1000 to do it right (you have to have exactly the right flow rate etc. to get actual sterilization).

I'm more concerned with how fast life moves than I am in how I look moving through it. No one has ever loved me or hated me because of how I look.

If I lost my sense of humor tho, I'd be ****ed.
Or not.

I don't piss in my pool.

I simply get out and piss in the gravel next to it.

Go take a pool certification course and you'll never get in a pool again, much less pee in one.
