The ghosts look amazing BTW
The problem is the people act like they have never seen ghosts if they are going that route, of course that also explains the horrible ghostbusters 2 where people forgot about ghosts.

I'd have the black lady starting off as the office person for the lab, and she would basically be the one common sense person in the whole place that makes sure they don't blow themselves up and that the bills are paid on time. Her personality would be much like Winston and, although she is equally qualified, she tends to run the business side because the others are such goobers. So in the beginning of the movie Aykroyd is frustrated because his team isn't finding much anymore. They work on a device that increases the sensitivity of their equipment and it backfires-creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity on a grand scale with a field that centers on the lab.

Aykroyd asks them to don the gear and fight the manifestations while he attempts to deactivate the device. It runs on paranormal energy and it is constantly cycling higher and higher in power while he is scrambling to stop the process. One of the women in the lab has an old friend that is willing to help, and she is talked into joining the team. The new "Winston" hires an office temp to keep the lab office going while she is out ghost busting and it happens to be a young, quirky, attractive guy. All of that takes, what, five or ten minutes? Maybe fifteen? Now you have four female Ghostbusters out fighting ghosts with Aykroyd doing little scenes of trying to hold the fort together, and the young guy bonding with Slimer who is hanging around the lab. You end up with guys in the support roles and the comediennes doing their things and attempting to chew scenery amidst top level special effects monsters. The black lady can be kind of bossy in a maternal way because she has been doing that in the lab anyway. Her shtick of "keeping it real" works because the other three can't function in the real world. At least that's a jumping off point that doesn't shit all over the original movies.
This two paragraph script probably has more thought in it then what is about to be released.

Wow. That's an odd tactic to convince people to go see your movie. Is Trump the new Hitler for comparative shaming?

"I would assume there's a very large crossover of people who are doubtful 'Ghostbusters' will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy," said Apatow, who is a producer on "Ghostbusters." "I would assume they are the exact same people."

Apatow, for a maker of dick joke movies, has rounded out into a true ****y beta.
Either he took Katherine Heigl's criticism of the misogyny in his production of Knocked Up way too hard, or he is absolutely entranced by Lena Dunham's nappy dugout.

Is he wrong? There's probably a lot of non Trump supporters who feel the same way, but I'd assume most all Trump supporters feel relatively the same way about it.

In my circles, he's dead wrong. I don't know anyone who supports this movie or Trump.

It sounds like he's creating these excuses in fear that the careers and/or reputation(s) of the people involved will be irreparably damaged if the movie tanks.

As I said, people who feel this way about the movie aren't necessarily Trump supporters, but most Trump supporters likely feel this way about the movie.

Kind of like the adage, "Not all republicans are racist, but all racists vote republican".

I completely disagree. If you polled Trump supporters, I would bet a ridiculously large percentage have an irrational hate for this movie without ever having seen it.

Though I do think he underestimates how many non Trump supporters also have that same irrational hate.

"Irrational hate"? Have you seen the trailer? At this point, denying that this movie will suck is the equivalent, morally, of denying the Holocaust. And I may be being a bit unfair to Holocaust deniers here.
