LNBS: Will KC draft a QB earlier than we think?

Andy had McNabb and drafted:

Kevin Kolb in the 2nd round.
AJ Feeley in the 5th.
Kafka in the 4th.
Nick Foles in the 3rd.

I wonder if Veach and Andy will use a mid rounder on a QB in the next couple drafts.

I wouldn’t hate it at a max of a 4th round investment if the right guy falls, but I sure would be pissed if we used a 2 or 3 on one.

Not impossible, but it kind of seems like they've got a crush on Chris Oladokun. I wouldn't be terribly shocked if he made it to QB2 next season, maybe.

If Andy holds true to form in his time in KC, he'll go find a Trevor Siemian type of vet for next year (Gabbert is terribad) and let Oladokun simmer one more season.

Need someone other than Gabbert. But the team also has plenty of other spots that need attention, so I am not sure they want to use a Draft pick on the QB room.

Kolb was taken a couple years after they lost the Super Bowl and it was clear that McNabb really wasn't a top tier QB. Kafka was taken in the offseason they traded McNabb, and Foles was taken after year 2 of over-30 retread Mike Vick.

So, to answer the question, no.

You are supposed to draft a QB in the third round. Play them in some meaningless games, and then trade them to a sucker franchise for at least a first round pick.

Belinda Veaze needs to get this ball rolling.

There is zero chance they draft a QB short of someone they project going in rounds 2/3 falling to the 5/6/7 rounds. It would be strictly a value pick.

I can't see them doing it in the next several years. They will want to use every draft pick to plug holes to maximize their chances to win championships with Mahomes.

Nah. There will always be Blaine Gabberts out there and undrafted projects to tinker around with. That 3rd/4th round pick is far too valuable for roster building, especially this year when we have limited picks.

I have no problem with the “draft and develop a QB, then trade them to a desperate franchise” scenario. The issue I have is, Veach drafts so well from rounds 1-7, I don’t know that I ever want to waste a pick on a QB. We’re not drafting one to compete, that’s for certain.

We can likely get Jason Bean as an undrafted free agent as a developmental wide receiver.

I saw that he had one of the fastest runs last year and it intrigued me.
