So pumped about this team. Especially if the bats keep heating up.

right now it's a statistical anomaly because he hits behind Frenchy and Getz.
If you don't understand that RBI's occur when runners are on base (unless you drive yourself in), I don't know what to tell you. Escobar and Hosmer are going to get on base far more than Getz and Frenchy. You want to have your guys with big slugging percentages hitting behind guys who get on base. That's just baseball 101. |

Kudos to Shields for another solid, long outing.
Dude has been every bit as good as advertised. 220 innings and 200 K's with 3.3 ERA is ACE material. He's not as flashy as Greinke but he's a flat stud with a much better demeanor. |

I'm really excited for you guys, your team is avoiding the long losing streaks so far this year, if they lose a game they've bounced back. Hopefully that keeps up its crucial to your season because thats killed ya'll in the past. Good Luck!

He'd have 4 less RBI's.

I won't argue too much with the idea of putting Gordon in the 3 spot, but if Hosmer continues to hit out of the 4 spot, I think it becomes a moot point.
Basically, if Gordon is moved to the 3, that means you have Escobar and one other person hitting in front of him. Escobar is not an OBP machine (currently at .321 despite a .290 average, which is not very good). Cain and Hosmer are the two best OBP guys available. I wouldn't argue with an alignment that put Cain/Hosmer/Gordon/Butler, but I also like the current alignment. At 1, Gordon gets as many at-bats as possible. That's a positive. If by moving Gordon to the 3 spot, you have the same guys hitting in front of him that he gets when hitting out of the 1 (i.e. Getz or Dyson is moved up there), I don't see the net gain. Besides... it's all going to be a moot point when the Royals add Chase Utley to the lineup in a few months, anyway. Gordon Escobar Utley Butler Hos Cain Yes, please. (and SP... be prepared to throw pitches. Lots of pitches. At least until you get to Moose, Perez and Frenchy)

Shields is an upgrade. He's less flashy, but he's a better, more consistent SP. And he's a hell of a lot better teammate. That much is obvious.

Without Utley:
1. Cain 2. Hosmer 3. Gordon 4. Butler 5. Perez 6. Frenchy 7. Moose 8. Getz 9. Escobar or 1. Escobar 2. Hosmer 3. Gordon 4. Butler 5. Cain 6. Perez 7. Frenchy 8. Moose 9. Getz |

Escobar is an ideal #1 or #9 (9 to reset the lineup after our one lineup hole)...
Hosmer, the way he's taking walks and hitting singles, is a perfect 2 hitter to set the table for Gordon and Butler. |
