Which is bullshit, if it means way more fans coming out to watch a winning team and playoff baseball

Ellsbury is a funny player. Definitely being drastically overpaid here.
Which of course doesn't bode well for the Royals. |

I think with the Kelly Johnson signing, the Yankees are now firmly out on Beltran, which gives us a big advantage on signing him. We are definitely overpaying him, and for good reason; the fans love him, he could become our HOF'er, etc. So outside of the Yankees, other teams have no reason to match the crazy money we're throwing at him.
Some people dismiss the Yankees self-imposed cap, but its a real thing, especially if they still want Cano. They are going to move heaven and earth to stay under the luxury tax threshold because if they can do that for just one year, they reset the number of consecutive years they break the cap, and they can go nuts next year for a lower penalty. They want to be competitive, but they are more looking at 2015+, not 2014.

Yeah I don't think Beltran's going to NY.
The only other team that I worry about is Texas. |

Can anyone actually defend giving Beltran a three year contract for $16 million AAV?
Seriously, I'd love to hear it. |
