Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.


Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?



Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I just ordered 1500 rounds of .22lr from Midway. They have a one-per-customer limit on the 500 round boxes, so I had to order three different kinds:

If I didn't already have 10k+ stocked up, I'd be all over that deal. I bought a bunch of .223 at the local Cabela's today as well. They had a decent stock at old prices. Now I'm REALLY done buying .223 for along time. I must have 8K of that now. I need to go burn some of that up this summer.

if you have too much ammo you're not shooting enough! I know work has kept me so busy I have 'too much ammo' now too!

You've got that right! I ran through some rounds this last weekend, mostly 500 smith & wesson and .22. I will be back in the mountains this weekend and may pack the AR as well.

Well, they're all old, so they can be twitchy. I had to have mine tweeked by the gunsmith, and it still has some issues (shoots modern ammo fine, but jams on the surplus stuff I picked up on the cheap). You'll also pay through the nose for one in good shape. And it's not like a modern gun, it takes both oil and grease, and you need to know what you're doing to take care of it.

But it's fun. And accurate. Puts big holes in things. Kicks pretty good, too. I definitely felt it the next day.

I dunno doesn't that count as 'recycling'? I mean you could have had someone chop down trees to make paper targets. Instead you used your gun to help disassemble an old broken laptop. Sounds ecofriendly to me!

I had a Nikon Coolpix go tits up on my trip to the mountains, I had my iphone along so I used that to take pictures as the backup. The camera was "just" over a year old so no warranty. I was a bit put out that it broke, so I hung it from a tree and shot it with my .500 Smith & Wesson. That was one hell of an explosion.
