The Sporting News The Chargers gave up a first-round pick in 2000 for Mikhael Ricks but last week cut the jumbo receiver who failed to step up in more than two years with the team. The final straw was Ricks' performance against the Seahawks in Week 4, when his half-hearted efforts resulted in two interceptions against QBs Ryan Leaf and Jim Harbaugh. At 6-5, Ricks figured to be a great weapon in the red zone, but in 1999 the Chargers threw him 21 passes in the red zone. He caught three. Yeah, I watched him quit on patterns in that game which directly resulted those INTs. That was inexcuseable.
