CD Collecting

I'm a CD collector, but I'm pretty poor at it because I unfortunately don't have loads of expendable cash after my paycheck pays off things. As of now, I have upwards of 700 CDs.

That's impressive only by layman standards. I'm sure many ChiefsPlanet collectors here have a collection that puts mine to shame.

How big are your CD collections? Do we have any massive 20,000, radio DJs here or something? Put the rest of us to shame.

Also, I'm looking online for shelves to stock CDs in. It should stock upwards of 1,000 CDs. This goes without saying, but I can't break the bank on this, either.

I'm having an IMPOSSIBLE time finding any. Help would be appreciated.

If you want to expand yours, see if you can buy some collections on Ebay. That helped my DVD collection out tons.

As for a stand, it sucks trying to find one. I'm in the market for a DVD one.

I have around 250, but they are going extinct. Slowly but surely.

I quit buying any 2 years ago.

I collect too. My collection is approaching 500, it doesn't sound like that many but my collection is specific to one style of music, metal. I don't have a bunch of everything, I don't keep cds I don't like, all my cds get a regular rotation. I store all my cds in books that hold 100, I put the booklet in a slot and the cd in the slot behind it. I store the actual casings in a box.

I'm more of a DVD collector. I have a bad habit of buying DVD's because I'm bored.

I'll even scour the cheap bin for old 80's movies I liked... not because I'll watch them anytime soon, but because, "Hey! It's only 7 bucks!"

Sometimes I'll download a movie, and buy it because I liked it, only to let it sit in the rack.

If I had no expendable income today, I could probably go for months watching DVD's I've bought, and never watched.

I have about 1300-1350, but since I got Sirius, SACD and DVR, I've cut way back on my CD purchases, <100 new in the past couple of years.

My only problem with downloading is I can't use the music in other programs. I am the team photographer for both of my girls soccer and softball teams and put all the pictures on a cd to music for the kids - I can't get any of the downloaded music to work.

That said I have about 900 cds. Quite a few are cutouts or box sets as I used to run a video and music store in Las Vegas.

I probably have between 600-700. After narrowing my taste in music, I eventually became more picky. Also, I don't believe there's a lot of good new music being made really, so after collecting the catalogues of my fav. bands, there's not a lot else that intrigues me. If you ever fly there is a catalogue called SkyMall that has some pretty massive CD racks ... massive, the size of walls ...

I spent three years getting all my vinyl and cassettes to MP3.
And have ripped most the CDs to M4A for better quality.

I have 250GB of music files, and have had an internet radio station for about 5 years now:

This week I'm featuring music from the 1960s.

Peace Love Dope!

Use Limewire, it just downloads mp3s.

I stopped collecting physical media. Digital downloads are the future and I'm getting on the bandwagon early.

Of course I also stopped using paper when Egon said "print is dead" and I'm still waiting for that...
