Grade the team/units
Overall Grade: D
Defense: C+ Did well up until the 4th quarter when Houston ran the 8 minute offense for 10 minutes. At that point they were probably worn out from being on the field all day. I was about ready to dub them the Bend AND Break defense after Andre Johnson's TD, but I guess young safeties will let that happen from time to time. Hopefully the unit will improve especially after Jared Allen returns. I liked what I saw of Boone and Tank. Offense: D Our wide receivers were a pretty sad unit BEFORE Kennison went down, but after that they were just plain ugly. Hard to say if they were never open, or Huard just didn't want to look downfield, or if we just have a moron calling the plays. Huard threw a few bad passes and looked like a 34 year old journeyman whose been passed over a lot. The line did an okay job and I believe in a month they'll be in good shape. Special Teams: D Coverage units did well, and Colquit was probably our MVP today. Hemlock did well on his two kick offs, but missing that gimme is a killer. Return units did respectably well other than the fumble. Coaching: F Having to take a timeout just after you've gotten a first down from defensive encroachment because you can't get a play called in time is one of the most pathetic things I've seen. I saw Huard look pretty frustrated waiting for a play several times. The team looked good the first few drives on both sides of the ball... and then shat itself. An uninspired performance against a not very strong team. |

Overall: Fail
There is no letter grade for a single game. It is either pass or fail. We lost, we failed. Other than that, I agree with the rest of your assessment! |

Defense: D+. Inconsistent pass rush. Poor run defense. Abysmal on third down. Awful, awful play on the bomb.
Offense: D--. The first drive before Bowe's drop looked great, but you can't score consistently if you need 15 plays to move the ball 80 yards. That's ridiculous. The rest of the game was a fucking abortion. Turley looked like shit and Svitek should be mopping up 25 cent theaters Special Teams: D. A for Colquit, F triple minus for everyone else. Drummond shits the bed and Medlock makes Scott Norwood look like Vinatieri on barbituates. Coaching: F octuple minus. Not enough blitzing of a n00b QB. Too passive on third down. Lack of creativity. No halftime adjustments.

Offense D
Gave up on the run to early. Didn't attack downfield. Drops and penelties killed the Chiefs. Defense B Without Allen and still played well enough to win the game. Boone looked good and the LBs played a nice game. The D is only going to get better with Allen coming back and the young guys(Turk, Tank, Page, Pollard, Brackenrigde) getting experience. This is a good D. Special Teams D+ Colquitt and the coverage teams keep it from being a F. Coaching C- |

Special Teams is at least a C. Coverage units did a fine good job on one of the best in the NFL.
