Rick Gosselin's FINAL MOCK
He is usually very good at this....
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont....16351f7a.html Kansas City Chiefs 20. Tamba Hali DE Penn State Comment: The Chiefs have one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL, managing only 29 sacks in 2005. Hali led the Big Ten in sacks last season with 11 and is one of the few weakside ends with any bulk in this draft. His 275 pounds will come in handy against LaDainian Tomlinson, Lamont Jordan and Tatum Bell in the AFC West. |

This would be consistent with Carl picking players that could easily be had later on in the draft.
That being said, I wouldn't mind this pick too much. |

Exactly!
Hali could be had around 33 I believe....here's my scenario: 20th pick for 33rd pick(580pts) 65th pick(265pts) 216th pick(5pts) = 850pts = even trade

sounds good to me; although realistically I don't know if it could happen or not. That point system is a bunch of bullshit to me. I would love to have hali, but not at 20

I would be pretty upset if we drafted Hali at 20 with Jimmy Williams still on the board. I would at least want to trade down in the manner KChiefs1 laid out.

I haven't seen Hali play so I can't comment, but I'm ok with a DE pick (assuming we actually plan on playing him in front of DV's suck boy Hicks)...would suck to see Lawson go to Denver, and Holmes is a hell of a pick up for the Steelers at that spot...

I wonder how Hali compares coming out to other DE's like Odom of Alabama (last year?) or Howard from KSU (several years ago).

Howard was a free agent last year; good player, I hoped the Chiefs gave him a look. But no.

I am now getting very worried because history tells us that Gosselin's final mock is THE most accurate there is.
Why am I worried? Don't like the pick at all. |

Maybe we could trade up with Philly to grab Lawson from in front of Denver.
I know it is just my opinion, but Lawson in the 1st and Griffin in the 2nd would be a good first day. |

I just watched a segment NFL Network had on Hali about his life growing up in a war torn country. He said he's high school coach used to tell him "Just put your hand on the ground and go"
Kinda reminded me of the old NFL Films clip where they showed Cowher telling Derrick "Rush the Quarterback" "Rush the Quarterback". I don't know how polished Hali is on his overall game (stopping the run). Gretz wrote in his article yesterday that Gun dosen't want a project. I don't know if Hali falls into that category or not. I would be happy with a DE pick in the 1st and CB in the 2nd IF the DE takes Hicks job.

I would still hope for Williams if this scenario plays out.

Damn. This is a tough call. I like Gosselin's breakdown, but we desperately need BOTH a pass rush and help in the d backfield at corner AND safety.
The entire problem is exacerbated, of course, by our lack of activity in FA. But, if I had to make the 20 pick (and assuming that no trades take place), I'd go with Hali as well on the theory that an improved rush will improve the play of our d-backs ... whoever they are. FAX |

According to this draft value chart(I know the Chiefs may have a different one), Hali's best value is as a high 2nd round pick. If the Chiefs are targetting Hali then they should trade down.
