Don't live in Atlanta, but...
... I go there almost every year.
I'll be in Atlanta this year over Labor Day weekend for DragonCon. It's a Science Fiction/Fantasy/Anime/Comic/Hard Science/Horror convention held every year in Atlanta. I've attended six of the last eight years and have really enjoyed myself. Had the pleasure to meet some of my favorite authors and (being on the guest list) been able to just hang out and visit with them :D. If some of you Atlanteans ... sorry, Atlantans ;) are free one evening that weekend, perhaps we could imbibe a bit in one of the local watering holes on Peachtree....

How ironic - just got back from watching a Braves game in Atlanta. The BNC is a huge fan and the tickets were a wedding gift (yes, frazod is now trapped like a rat in marital bliss). Anyway, the Atlanta transit system (MARTA) has free shuttle buses that go from downtown to the stadium. They were very convienent, and the price was definitely right. We stayed at a hotel near a downtown mall called the Underground (on Peachtree), and the shuttle buses picked us up about a block from there.
We went a couple of hours early so the BNC could get autographs. She got one, from Olandis Gary. Apparently they only allow one or two players to come out per game, as more than that is really disruptive. Chipper rarely comes out, because apparently when he does they go nuts. The autographs stop about an hour before game time so that they can clear the seats. Prices are simply outrageous - the worst I've ever seen ($11 for nachos and a friggin coke in a souvenier cup). And they wonder why they can't fill the g#ddamn place. We spent enough on BS at the game to buy a nice meal at a gourmet restaurant. Absolute highway robbery. Thank God the shuttle bus was free. Good game, though, and we had awesome seats (right by the Mets dugout, four rows up). The Mets won, too, which made me happy because I hate Atlanta. This little trip was all for her. |

Olandis Gary?
Did the Broncos trade him to the Braves? |

Odalis Perez (and I'm probably spelling it wrong). Duh. As I said, I'm not a Braves fan. Similar sounding name, though.
Also, I just got MARRIED four days ago - my brain is still pretty much jelly at this point. Thank God its over. |

Congratulations frazod on your dreaded bliss. :D Seriously I would hope that you and BNC (?) have thought about this enough that it will last a good long time.
