Food everyone else loves, but you think is overrated
Just thinking about foods that everyone else seems to think is the greatest thing ever, and you just don't get...

Me: Nutella. I'd never tried it until today when someone at the grocery store had samples of those little snack packs. So I tried it. It's not bad, but it's certainly overrated.

So I'm trying to think of other things like this. What do you have for me?

So I hear five guys is overpriced all of the time.

Here, try this.

Go to the store and see how cheap you can make a burger.

To say it's overpriced is a pretty uneducated conclusion, IMO.

Yeah I made a bunch today and it wasn't cheap. Beef has taken another jump in price too.

That being said, I don't like Five Guy's burgers.

I like them - they taste pretty good, my main complaint is not having cheddar available. Chopped raw onion really do wonders for me w/ burgers. I love the raw onion addition.

I ate a burger all the way through with a tomato on it yesterday. First time ever. I've hated tomatoes my whole life. It really added to the taste of the burger though. Pleasant surprise.

That's very sweet.

It's funny and maybe a little weird - but five guys reminds me of the burgers that King Louie bowling ally used to sell. I'm not sure they're that similar - I think it may be just part of the Five Guys that reminds me of them - such as maybe the bread and the fact they put those raw onions on them.

I usually omit tomatoes from burgers when I order.

Onions are much more critical for my tastes

I like a fresh tomato on a burger but they are rare. They buy them presliced and they set and get soggy. If the burger comes out with tomato not on the side I usually yank it because they are hiding disappointment under that bun.

What onion ya like white,yellow or red. I like a raw red.

I like them all - probably the stronger white though for a burger. Maybe red onion chopped on a chili cheeseburger.

Yep. It's the same thing people say about subs, too. If you're gonna make a burger or a sub at home, you can't just buy the ingredients for one sandwich.

Why not? The Albertson's deli here will let you buy meats and cheeses by the slice. Bakery will sell you one hoagie. Stop by QT on the way home and pocket some individual condiment packets.
