Could Denver's loss last night be a BAD thing for our team?

I rooted all night against Denver for them to lose and was happy for the results. I certainly didn't "root" for Phyllis Diller Rivers

Then it started to sink in that even though Denver lost, we still have a very low chance and tough road to win the division to have either the #1 or #2 seed in the AFC with our tie record also with New England.

So now instead of having the flexibility of resting players for health and getting more reps for a lot of the rookies and subs, we now will probably play balls out until it's all over, which maybe the very last play of the regular season against the very same Chargers that just beat Denver in their house and us at Arrowhead.

While it's exciting to see hard fought football for the entire 16 games, I'm worried our guys will be worn out when the playoffs begin. Indy may have nothing to play for when they play us, compared to us.

Thoughts?

This team isn't good enough to be resting players.

As for Denver, I thought KC played scared both times we faced them. San Diego didn't look intimidated. Until KC gets the confidence that they can hang with Denver, they're going to be less than their best.

If we don't lose at home to San Diego, I wonder if they even play hard enough to win the game last night as they'd be out of the playoffs.

On the flip side the donks can't rest their players either. If Welker gets one more concussion does that mean he's done for the season. Three concussions in a season and a player must sit? Isn't that the rule.

If nothing else, that "terrible" San Diego D showed what you need to do against Forehead to beat them.

If we win out, the Broncos lose and the Pats lose a game, I think there is a situation there where the Chiefs and Bengals could end up the 1/2 seed respectively.

Denver's own arrogance played into this. San Diego was conceding the short stuff all game. Denver didn't exploit it in the first half. Then you factor in San Diego getting it done on offense in the first half, and consuming almost the entire 3rd qtr, and suddenly it was too late for Denver to get back into it with the underneath stuff that SD was allowing.

Certainly teams should gain some strategy from how SD played, but Denver will probably also look back at the tape and realize they had opportunities to move the ball and were just too greedy.

IIRC, thats basically what the Pats and Romeo always had success doing. Make the guy throw it short, putting together long drives. He'll eventually get impatient and take a chance and you have to be able to take advantage of it.

Make him throw it short and tackle. Everyone thinks he destroys zones, which he will if you are undisciplined.

But playing zone on the back with 7 and getting pressure with 4 is the way to beat him.

Unless you have Seattle's secondary that can just man up and maul.
