You nailed it.

The 2 and 3 are generally interchangeable in college, though the elite schools usually land elite players at the 3 (Harrison Barnes is an example).

So when Dixon comes in for Matt Pressey, we basically have two 2's on the floor (Denmon & Dixon)?

If Dixon can repeat the year he had this year as the starting 2, it would give them an evolutionary version of this year's squad, just much younger.

But we didn't close the deal on Pollard when he came and then pissed down our legs in the tourney. Once again, I think the dream is dead there.
I don't think the dream is dead on Pollard. He did visit just a week ago on his own dime (and he still hasn't tripped to Georgetown or Kentucky). If Miss. State hires the Georgetown assistant who's recruiting him (George Kirby - was at MSU previously), he's going to MSU.

Not sure there's room for him at Kentucky - they have already signed Alex Polythress.

I could see them going with a Bowers/Pollard frontline in some situations, but I just don't see that Bowers defending the 5 against true centers. Not bulky enough.

I'd like Pollard a LOT as Bowers' backup. Then you just need one guy out of Criswell/Rosburg/Jankovic to give you good minutes, and you're solid up front (and much better than this year).

We know next year's squad will have the same great point guard play and a dynamic scoring combo guard (Dixon). It will also be much bigger, deeper and more athletic.

The questions are: How does the chemistry work out (some good reports there, but you have to see it to believe it, right?)? What do you get from the transfers (They really need Brown to be a 3-point sniper, and Bell/Ross to be more efficient as pieces than they were as "the man.")

It's kind of weird to think about the potential Pressey/Bell/Ross/Pollard/Bowers lineup. Would be just CRAZILY athletic (4 guys with 40" verticals, plus Bowers).

Yeah. Denmon rebounds really well for his size (he's really about 6'1"), but it's a really tough matchup for him.

You might have noticed how guys like Khris Middleton, LeBryan Nash, Bazemore from ODU, just diced Mizzou up this year? Those guys are true SF/3 types, and Missouri didn't have anyone with the height to really bother their shots.

MU got complacent, this is true. But they didn't cause Norfolk to hit all those shots that they usually miss. If Norfolk played to their normal level, MU would have won easily.

I was traveling most of the weekend, so missed all of Friday through Sunday's games.

Norfolk State? Really? That is right in the fine Norm Stewart tradition of first round flame outs, he would be very proud.

Good luck with the SEC Murons!

MU shot very well, and they gave Norfolk wide open looks, just like KU did in the first half with Purdue.

KU adjusted, MU did not.

It didn't hurt that Purdue went full reerun in the final minute or so.

I guess the NCAA was doing a documentary on MU's run to the Final Four.

It's a pretty short documentary.
