Prince is a Dick

He goes on Fallon's show. Asks to borrow a guitar from one of the guys in Fallon's house band. It's a rare 1961 Epiphone model, after his set he throws the guitar across the stage and breaks the head, ruining the guitar. Then he refused to offer to replace it, or even sign the ruined guitar afterwards for the true owner.

What an asshole.

He can dance, that's for sure. I don't find him to be that great of a rapper or singer.

people change out the hardware and electronics on "vintage" guitars/basses all of the time but as long you retain and then replace the OE the guitar is still valuable and considered "original"

I have literally played hundreds and hundreds of vintage guitars from the 30's through the late 60's and I've never once had a tuner "crumble" in my hand. My dad has a '63 335 that been gigged thousands upon thousands of times and the tuners are still intact and the guitar stays in perfect tune.
But if he saved the original tuners, and took the Spurzels off to put the originals back on, wouldn't that have restored the guitar to vintage status??

that's always been my understanding.

My '72 Tele Deluxe has some badass Gotoh tuners on it...a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a Fralin P-90 in the neck.

Kept all the originals in case I ever HAVE to sell it.

The '69 Coranado II has an aftermarket bridge that someone else put on; I'm looking for an original to restore it.

I saw him close the show at a VH1 Honor's concert at the Gibson Amphitheater a few years back and he freaking blew me away.
He's a breathtaking performer; his solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (I think it may have been at that VH-1 Honors show) is ace. His halftime performance may be the best in Super Bowl history (not tough, I know)...

weird mother****er though.

Remembe when everyone thought Prince was some weird little android that may be a child molester and probably gay...and Micheal Jackson was considered a musical genius who was championed as Mr. Wholesome American Icon?? Flaming Peosi commercials and the works...

In a weird twist, the Roots just played a big Prince tribute fundraiser last night. I wonder if Captain Kirk was thinking, "Tribute this mother****er" the whole time.

http://www.courierpress.com/news/201...rince-tribute/
Quote:
NEW YORK — They partied like it was 1999 — the audience and the musicians — at a Prince tribute concert at Carnegie Hall.

More than 20 performers, including Elvis Costello, The Roots and the Waterboys, paid tribute to the pop icon in a two-hour-plus concert Thursday night. They all joined together onstage to close the show with "1999."

Singer D'Angelo took the lead while putting his arm around Bettye LaVette, Chris Rock and Costello clapped hands side-by-side, and comedian-actress-singers Maya Rudolph and Sandra Bernhard danced in a silly manner — all while the crowd cheered on.

Many of the performers got into character as they sang signature Prince tunes. Soul singer Bilal was wild on "Sister," singing in various tones like a mad man and thrilling the crowd. Bernhard, in her leather pants, shimmery shirt and shiny shoes, impressed on "Little Red Corvette" as she skipped around onstage and belted high notes. And singer-songwriter Kat Edmonson captured the audience with "The Beautiful Ones," standing still and singing with only a pianist onstage.

It was one of the only times The Roots weren't backing up other performers throughout the concert, which raised $100,000 for music education programs.

Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson jammed on the drums and even took photos of a pregnant Rudolph when she danced with one hand on her belly and the other stroking her hair. Rudolph, who sings Prince covers under the moniker PRINCEss with Gretchen Lieberum, screeched on "Darling Nikki" and didn't slow down while performing choreography in heels.

Few words were said to the audience, though Rock thanked the crowd "for coming" toward the end of the show.

He impersonated Prince, too, when reciting the lyrics to "If I Was Your Girlfriend" with sass. Comedian-actor Fred Armisen took on many roles: He recited lyrics from "Let's Go Crazy," played the drums while the Blind Boys of Alabama sang "The Cross" and offered light vocals during "It's Going to Be a Beautiful Night" alongside D'Angelo.

Most of the musicians wore black onstage, though LaVette rocked a purple blazer while singing "Kiss." Other performers included Eric Leeds, Nina Persson and Talib Kweli. Wendy Melvoin of the Revolution played guitar throughout the night, while St. Paul Peterson and Susannah Melvoin — dancing wildly in a white suit — performed "High Fashion/Mutiny."

Husband-and-wife Citizen Cope and Alice Smith sang a duet version of "Pop Life" and Booker T. Jones was joined by singer Diane Birch and members of the Young Audiences New York Youth Choir for "Raspberry Beret."
Or maybe the fact that the Roots were participating in this is why Prince broke his guitar?

We had some heavy rains up here today and my street, while only 18 foot wide (Whoopee!) is also cursed from being the downflow from slightly higher elevation.

I had to drop off the kid at preschool, go to Targer, BevMo, Costco, Ralphs and get gas this morning. Just as ****ing soon as I pulled in front of my house to unload, that mother****er Chris Brown, in his black Range Rover, sped down the street, splashed me with the drainage water, then put his hand out the window in a "Peace" sign.

****.

Nah, I don't need any trouble, especially with two little girls.

But I'm happy to keep you all updated with his weekly (if not daily) asshattery.
