By the way, I don't actually believe in reincarnation. I do believe that life is generally long enough and rich enough for it to be possible for someone to go through these changes in one lifetime, and that the teachings of Buddha can be applied in an everyday spiritual awakening. You can look at "lives" as a way to express that a person has changed so much that they are no longer the person they were before that change. As if the person were reborn. I don't feel that this is substantially different than the Christian notion of being "born again."
