I really think that his failure as a GM has nothing to do with whether he can be a quality analyst or not. I highly doubt Bob Costas would be worth two shits as a GM, and although he sucks as an analyst, that is not the reason.

But perception is reality.

Speaking of reality, he's also epically shitty when he's responsible for making actual choices, which speaks to his ability to analyze accurately difficult problems, which is quite a tricky situation when his current job title is "analyst."
