The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

If they like Geno that much, but don't want to pick him high, trade Albert, use that pick to move back up into the first to take Geno.

No it is completely possible Dorsey is allowing Albert to check out the market on his own. Once Albert sees the market is not what he hopes for, then he might be reasonable and re-sign with KC at lower price.

The moment we tagged Albert, he did gain some leverage $$$ wise. He is sitting at nearly $10 million right now and by being tagged he can point to people in saying he is worth top 5 $$$ supposedly. In reality he is closer to top 10 range. $7 million a year puts him in the top 15 range of OT's. Is it $7 million what teams are thinking or are they willing to go slightly higher to around top 10 $$$?

The evidence has been in for awhile from The Bad Guy's source that the Chiefs think Geno Smith can be the answer, and have him in the final four players to be considered for the 1.1 pick.

Now Daniel Jeremiah has come out and is saying the Chiefs really like Geno Smith. That clearly to me shows that they have more confidence in him than "just a QB."

No I just think hes the player that go with for your future. Does he need grooming hell yea but so does mostly everybody else.

IMO Austin is the BPA.
