49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Same as I would any playoff team. Once they make the playoffs anything can happen. The last few years low seeds in the playoffs have done better than high seeds a lot of the time. Who picked Baltimore to win at this time last year? No one.

Exactly. I certainly wouldn't be able to say Reid and Dorsey didn't give a shit about the QB position if they did that. Far from it. I'd owe them a huge apology if that's the course of action they took.

I even think it's a bit overkill, but I would defend that decision to the very last with anybody who thought it was a dumb idea.

All of those low seeds had QBs playing at elite levels. Rodgers, Elix2, and Flacco.

Matt Schaub has never played at an elite level, even w/ the best running game in football and a top three WR.

You aren't bright enough to understand that it has very little to do with the specific players involved, are you? This year should have been about going all in on fixing the quarterback position...from top to bottom. Hopefully, we have already acquired our backup/stopgap starter and we are yet to acquire our starter...but I know better. NI'm just having fun with the dream, though.

Hopefully, these guys don't have a problem throwing numbers at th position similar to what Washington did last year.

Trading up for a QB is always defensible. To me, trading for another team's backup is never defensible.

In essence, if they wait until 2014 they will have paired one wise move with one egregiously terrible move.

Same thing if they draft Geno this year.
