I've been thinking about it. I know FIFA is really good, if NHL is better than that, thats a good thing.

Fifa and NHL are their 2 best games now...
I would think all the franchise work they've put into NHL would put it above Fifa for me but I doubt you'd go wrong with either of those games. |

do you think it would be fun for someone who knows nothing about hockey and has very little interest in that sport?
After a couple of weeks playing madden, I feel ripped off again. |

It's been so long since I spent money on EA games.... around 2000-2002, the hockey game was a lot of fun because you could buy it for the PC and customize everything. It was also a very fun arcade-style game.
The 2k series from about 2k3-2k5 were the best/most realistic hockey games I played.... night and day when compared to EA at the time. They were both fun in their own way, but I much preferred the real hockey from Sega (and you could always speed it up and make it high scoring, too). It would be interesting to see what EA has done since then.... but I'm thinking it's the same "Bigger hits! Awesome goals! Amazing moves!" arcade stuff they've always handed out, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was like $75 now.

Actually it's not, head over to operation sports where the critics are harsh, people love what EA has done with hockey the past few years.
There's tons of "these guys should do Madden" comments. |

The NHL series is without a doubt, the best sports series on the market. Harking back to my times with NHL '95 and '96, I'll even go as far as calling it the best sports series in video games...ever.
Seriously though, if you haven't played the demo, hockey fan or not: do it. |

Would be a waste of money for me. As soon as Call of Duty Black Ops comes out I won't be playing anything but that until the next COD comes out.

It is supposed to be awesome, not arcade-style at all. I haven't played it but it got good reviews. I kept on thinking the reviews were going to be for the sega hockey series but it it was for the EA games.
