Two comments:
1) Really, Sam Rockwell? A 'Poltergeist' remake? 2) I hope everyone in the cast doesn't start dying off from mysterious circumstances. |

As I mentioned in another thread, Gil, the director, is a friend of mine. He was Oscar nominated for Monster House and knew the challenge of this remake before taking it on. Sam Raimi, who knows a thing or two about horror films is producing.
The cast is very good, from Sam Rockwell to Rosemary DeWitt to Jared Harris. They've been working on the film since August 2013 and spent more than six months in Canada on the shoot. I have every reason to believe it'll be a good film. |

I'm just.......no reason to remake this movie other than "monetary" reasons. Maybe they can put a fresh spin/angle on it?

The clown scene always freaked me out in the original. I was glad to see they have the exact same scene in this one, i'm sure it'll freak me out again.

My favorite horror film gets a remake/facelift. Heck yes! I'm a bit disappointed though that they seem to follow the first 80's film's plot to a T.

For people old enough to see and remember the original, it'll probably never stack up because that film is ingrained in our heads. But hopefully, an updated take with a few changes will do the same for this generation of kids. |

The problem with movies like this is that we already know the outcome. We've already seen it and that takes the suspense out of a horror movie.....and horror movies need suspense.

That's why a movie like this is really targeted at the new generation, not the old. I see it with my six year old all the time. Conventional cartoons are "boring" and look "old" compared to the latest Disney Channel offerings, Pixar, Blue Sky, etc. |

I just hope the movie brings in a new element to the story. Add a little depth that we didn't get in the original. Something. A lot of people didn't like Rob Zombie's Halloween. But i enjoyed, I thought he made it his own. I hope this movie does the same.

Of course, the biggest irony with Poltergeist is that it was never a poltergeist. |
