Somehow I don't think so. An epic gun battle just doesn't seem like Walt's style. I could see the gun (or a piece from it) playing some part in a harebrained scientific scheme/contraption/invention he's planning (ala the magnet, the train heist, the improvised battery, the flashbomb with Tuco, etc..). I think this would be more inline with the writer's dropping clues that are often misleading than showing us a gun that indicates that Walt is about to have a huge Scarface (though they did placed the Scarface clues as well) type sendoff.

I still think the cartel is going to come back into the show at some point. They've been non-existent after Mike and Jesse killed the people at the party. You can't tell me that the ENTIRE cartel was there.

I agree. I don't think it will be a blazing gunfight, just that whatever plans he has for the gun, it is somehow against Hank and the DEA.

Walt's intelligence is finally being appreciated. His ability to cook is how he defines himself as successful. His skill isn't (really) in robbing trains. To sell his share for $5 million would only then require him to spend that money on new supply. The money matters, but it's not what makes him whole.
