The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

obviously every pick has risk but relatively many say geno is a risky first pick. If he were a andrew luck or rg3 then there would be no argument. BUT HE"S NOT. GET OVER IT. I WISH HE WERE AN ALLSTAR TOO. HE COULD BE. BUT WE DON'T REALLY KNOW. He's just not worth a first pick from what most scouts say. You think glenn dorsey is an idiot? All scouts that say geno is not a first pick is an idiot right? Just admit it, yall just want a franchise qb so badly that you really want geno to be it. I'm not saying there's no chance that he wont be, he's a good player. JUST NOT WORTH THE FREAKING FIRST PICK.

Is he good enough? ha. if this team can generate pass rush from the RDE position, this team is as good if not better than the one Alex Smith is leaving. The one that got within one victory of playing for the championship.

They need better. Everybody does. You can't pass up Smith just because he might not be as good as Geno in four years and there is no guarantee Geno will be better. Easy to think he will, he's got that arm and makes good decisions, etc. but this ain't college.

Alex Smith gives the Chiefs the ability to win now and you can argue he isn't good enough all you want, but it's obvious he'd make this team an instant winner with the ability to win playoffs against formidable opponents.
Pay attention, dipshit.

I said he will not put his team on his shoulders agianst opponents that have the same kind of support, I.e., a quality defense.

He made some plays against a very flawed, subpar Saints defense.

Against a real defense, the Giants, he sucked more balls than you have for your entire existence as a CP poster.

Kyle Williams is the goat, but only because Alex Smith could notmake a single play against a quality opponent.

Alex Smith may not have had receivers as good as KC throughout his San Fran career (as sad as that may be) but for the people that think Bowe can be great under Alex, did you see what he did to Crabtree essentially?

Vernon Davis and Crabtree are VERY good receivers. Extremely talented. Why have their numbers been so pedestrian?

I'll betcha anything that Bowe would turn into the exact same thing as Crabtree if we made the Alex Smith trade.

You will get WIDELY varying takes on who the top LT in this draft in. A lot like Joeckel, but a lot also like Eric Fisher (Who killed the Senior Bowl and was better at the combine than Joeckel) and some even like Lane Johnson the best because of his superior athletic ability and upside.

Joeckel is not, and never has been at any point in the process, the clear top pick, either.
So the point is most are picking players other than geno. case settled.

Can you name one scout who thinks Geno isnt worth a top 10 pick? Can you yourself name one reason why Geno isnt worth a top 10 pick??

Do you honestly think Andrew Luck is the norm? Do you think that teams should only draft a quarterback first if hes Andrew freaking Luck? A once in a decade player??

Wait a second, the caller on 810 right now said Smith was GREAT in that Giants game.

By the way, the caller is Michael Garozzo and he's PRAYING the Chiefs get Alex Smith.

"Alex Smith is mobile, Geno Smith isn't. Alex Smith has already had his growing pains, we don't want growing pains. We'd be a legitimate contender with Alex Smith."

There isn't a single player in this draft that is worth the first pick.
Let's just turn in blank card, so we don't waste it.

Actually, no they aren't.

Hail Redskins has a mock draft database. About 50% of the mock updated since JUNE have Geno as the first pick.

Just shut the **** up and leave.
